The Experience

Built in 1800, the very pretty house stands in acres of woods, pastures and landscaped gardens, with outbuildings (the owners’ quarters) and cottage. Footpaths meander to a lovely walled orchard and a pristine kitchen garden complete with hens. Inside are corridors alive with books, five delightful bedrooms, spick and span bathrooms and a sitting room with a log fire – guests are comfortable here. In the panelled dining room, kind Richard and Victoria, both from the catering industry, serve French breakfasts at crisp tables. Domfront on its hill is wonderfully close, very French.

Reviews

Lovely well managed and interesting farmhouse. We met the whole family including the children who all work together to create a great place to stay. Dinner was offered to us on the night we stayed, it was delicious and much appreciated after our long drive from Calais. Breakfast was equally fabulous, and whatever you do make sure you order a boiled egg!

Perfect! Beautiful B&B. Beautiful people. Nothing too much trouble. Made our stay so easy. Fab breakfast! Will definitely visit again For a relaxing long weekend. Thank you Victoria and Richard!!! And of course Charlie, Henry and George !

Deborah, Faversham

The warmest of welcomes on the drive morphed into tea then wine then dinner and the best of nights. Since the accommodation, food, company and location could not be faulted we are booked for February and hopefully a stay in August too.

Belle Vallee is a very pretty house set in a gorgeous garden and Victoria and Richard are the warmest of hosts taking time and trouble to make their guests feel very welcome and comfortable. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel like an old friend, and being offered a chilled glass of wine in the lovely courtyard after a long car drive was perfect! Our room was very spacious and extremely comfortable with lovely views over the countryside, and the peace and quiet there made for a good nights sleep. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and plentiful. We were sorry to leave!

Lovely Chambres D'Hotes near Domfront in a beautiful rural location. The owners Victoria and Richard were an absolute delight, nothing was too much trouble for them. The town itself is a lovely place with an interesting history over many hundreds of years. Bagnoles de l'Orne nearby is a lovely spa town nestling in forest, but has an air of 'gods waiting room' about it ! Would have no hesitation about enjoying the delights of Belle Vallee again.

We received a very warm welcome from Victoria, despite arriving later than planned, and after being offered an upgraded room we were presented with a delicious meal of cold meats, cheeses and salad. We spent a comfortable night in a large room on the top floor and next morning offered a lovely buffet breakfast. We would definitely stay again.

Chris, North Yorkshire

A most warm welcome and delicious dinner in this beautiful and peaceful stone house at the bottom of a wooded track. A charming florally-decorated bedroon, very well appointed, adds to the charm of the whole thing. Warmly recommended

Chris

Victoria's cheerful energy and the warmest of welcomes (Earl Grey and sponge cake in the garden arrives in seconds it seems) makes Belle Vallee magical. Like Venice or Tolkein's Rivendell you are excited to arrive, sad to leave and can't wait to come back. Richard and Victoria are English hotel and catering professionals but more than that, they put their heart and soul into making Belle Vallee the delightful success it is. Book early.

John

A warm friendly welcome from charming hosts. Very comfortable room and delicious meals. Dinner highly recommended!
