Over home-grown eggs and homemade jams, cake of the day, cheeses, charcuterie and fruit kebabs, conversations flourish, friendships bud. Outside, limewash walls stand among lavender-edged lawns and orchards, kindly Flaubert the Leonberger ambles, cows graze; inside are grey woodwork and gorgeous rooms, superb beds, handsome rugs on parquet floors, fine antiques and touches of brocante. Monet’s ineffable gardens are just down the hill.
This was such a special place to stay. Beautiful, welcoming, magical - our children described it as being 'the place of their dreams'. We particularly loved the big garden (and a glass of cider from the apple trees), all the friendly animals, and the atmospheric, comfortable and peaceful rooms. Our hosts were also extremely friendly and helpful. I can't wait to return.
