The Experience
Two beautiful houses set in a hectare of idyllic land on a hill. La Bergerie is an old brick and flintstone building with an added glazed garden room and great views over Honfleur. The open-plan ground floor is full of light and oak. Big rooms under the eaves each have a bath and basin in the room and a separate loo.
Below, but not overlooked, La Ferme is a half timbered, child-friendly house, its once dark indoor beams painted an elegant chalky grey. Snug bedrooms, up steep stairs, have antique bedheads and chairs; walls of exposed stone and plaster; two of the three smart bathrooms have Italian walk-in showers. Each house has a garden and patio area. Kitchens in both have good quality kit and generous local goodies are left for you.
Underfloor heating and wood-burners in both places will keep you cosy in winter; in summer you’ll be spilling out for al fresco meals, enjoying lawns, meadows and trees or heading to the beach.

Location
The neighbourhood
Honfleur is a picture-postcard port town with lots of museums and galleries and many shops and restaurants, as well as a beach. Visit nearby Deauville for renowned restaurants, celebrity spotting at the September film festival and the casino. Explore Falaise, birthplace of William the Conquerer or the cathedral at Lisieux. There are many famous fromageries and cider and Calvados producers to visit.
Local points of interest from Isabelle Mountain
- You're only a 10 minute walk from the historic town, its picturesque harbour, its numerous galleries and shops. And yet you'll feel like being in the countryside, in a verdant peaceful environment where you can completely relax.
- Our cottages are part of the historic property of the "Pavillon de la Reine", built for queen Marie-Antoinette in 1787, house of Lucie Dealrue-Mardrus, a local poetess, married to the translater of the 1001 nights. It's been my home for the past 20 years.
- There are many things to do in Honfleur. Visit the beautiful wooden church on Place Sainte-Catherine, built by sea carpenters, go to museums, embark on one of the boats for a tour near Pont de Normandie, treat yourself in one of our very nice restaurants.
- Many personalities were born or have lived in Honfleur and still today, it's an inspiration for artists. Come and see for yourself! It's also a wonderful spot for nature lovers. Discover our beautiful estuary land on one of the many trekking tracks.
- For History lovers, the D-day beaches and the Bayeux tapestry are an hour away and for those who like sport, there's a tennis club, a sailing school and several golf courses nearby. And with kids, trampolines, a swimming pool, a mini golf and the beach.
- If you come with children, they'll feel very welcome here: swings and slide, a playhouse, 2 lovely goats to feed and plenty of playground. A great collection of DVDs and a bedroom with toys, dressing up costumes and board games. Parents, you can relax!

Introducing
Isabelle Mountain
Isabelle, friendly and chatty, lives on the same plot in a separate house with her two daughters. She moved here from Paris some years ago and knows the area well. She will meet and greet and is generally around if you want any help.
I could not think of a lovelier place to stay in order to visit Honfleur. Isabelle is a very talented designer and has made her houses peaceful, oh-so-French oases on the doorstep of lovely Honfleur.
