The Experience
Sheltered below the country lane, the 17th-century pale-stone, elegant building faces south, revelling in the lush fruitful valley that flows away beyond the garden. Inside are superb high beamed rooms; you’ll find privacy even in the public rooms: club-like morning room, library with a vast classical fireplace, immense white-furnished salon in the former winery – you choose. Or plunge into the pool discreetly sited below the terrace, then sit under a willow by the frog-sung lily pond (maybe your prince will come?). Bedroom moods vary: in the big mushroom-masculine double, glowing antiques and two armchairs; in the suite, a smallish bedroom and a smart sitting room; in the romantic ivory and grey double, a draped bedhead and a clawfoot tub. All are superbly comfortable and have excellent lighting. It is a beautifully kept home where you will find artistic flair, a love of cooking (fresh vegetables in season, local wines) and stimulating company. Monsieur is passionate about architecture and design and his lovingly collected antiques and works of art add sparkle to the sobriety. A place of genuine class.

Local points of interest from M. Guyomarch
- Our swimming pool, 12 x 5m (ozone-purified) and the 90 m2 sun terrace are open from May to October. Our hard-surface tennis court is open all year round. Nearby are many beautiful country walks, some starting from the house.
- Our neighbours include over 100 vineyards and chateaux of the Gaillac wine district: wonderful countryside and some inspiring wine-tastings await you.
- The 'Albi bastides', charming, ancient hill-towns, like Cordes-sur-ciel, Puycelsi and Castelnau de Montmiral are famed for historic architecture, artists and sculptors, music festivals, markets and medieval festivities.
- It is only a 20-minute drive to the fine medieval city of Albi, with its stunning cathedral, and the magnificent Toulouse Lautrec museum. Amongst the golf-courses in easy reach, is the fine18-hole course at Albi, along the banks of the Tarn.
- The beautiful wooded gorges of the Aveyron are only 30 minutes away, with canoeing on the river, the romantic ruins of the fortress at Penne and the Sunday market at Saint Antonin Noble Val.
- For simple relaxation Perches offers generous spaces, rural tranquility, elegant and comfortable rooms and wonderful views over the vines, meadows and woodlands for 100km to the Montagne Noire.

A superb property. Alain & Howard are such charming and hospitable hosts. We booked as a stopover and wished we could have stayed longer as this a beautiful and fascinating part of France. Our dinner, which we ate with our hosts was excellent, our room very comfortable and the house has been beautifully restored. A gem!
