The Experience
Bright, smiling Brigitte is proud of her lovely 17th-century domaine, in the family for 100 years. An imposing stone staircase leads to wonderful big bedrooms with original parquet and grand mirrors, period beds, subtle paint finishes and 19th-century papers, and quirky treasures discovered in the attic: sepia photographs, antique bonnets, vintage suitcases. Showers are top-range Italian and the old arched billiards room makes a perfect salon. It’s unusually, richly authentic, the breakfasts are locally sourced and delicious and you are eight miles from Albi, World Heritage Site. A huge treat.

This French chambre d'hotes is absolutely charming, just like it's owner! It has been beautifully renovated in authentic shabby chic style, very authentic and tasteful but there are also all modern day comforts, grand bedrooms with good beds and linens, and top grade bathrooms. Madame has used lots of old letters, photos, and antique finds that were in the attic and these add charm to the decor. The breakfasts were fresh and we ate on the terrace overlooking the lawn, the pool area and the natural parkland, home to golden orioles singing in the morning. Thank you for a lovely welcome Mme.

- Cordes sur Ciel is one of Frances’s most important medieval towns and a valuable European heritage site.

This is a very special place. The Chateau is beautiful but what made it so special for us was the welcome that Brigitte and her team gave us. In addition to our room, guest have access to relax in a large comfortable sitting room and kitchen as well as two first floor terraces to enjoy the morning and afternoon sun. The gardens have lots of spaces to sit and read a book, sip a glass of wine and just enjoy the view. The breakfasts were delicious and bountiful with the homemade jam particularly tasty!
