The Experience

You’re high on a plateau here surrounded by rolling farmland with the dramatic ridges and vales typical of the Quercy. Wildlife is abundant and the meadows which surround the house and cottage are a botanist’s dream. Both properties have well-equipped kitchens and all the basics you need for cooking. A welcome hamper includes a bottle of local wine and jam. In season you can help yourselves to figs and apples.

The cottage has its own big garden with lawn for romping children and mature trees to provide shade for snoozing adults. Both properties have outdoor eating areas and a barbecue; on every side are views of the huge valley and hills beyond. A big swimming pool also has an outdoor shower, a children’s play area and a chest full of pool toys and cushions.

The pretty village of Monclar-de-Quercy is only 1km away so you can wander down for a good bakery and a spot of people watching in a cafe filled with locals. Feel French.

Reviews

The place is magic in the middle of the surrounding nature with an amazing view as far as the eye can see ! Beautiful, tastefully renovated and spacious character house, extremely high quality accommodation. The region, which we were discovering for the first time, is really worth to visit. We will come back for sure. Highly recommended !

Valerie, Thimister, Belgium

A perfect, attractive, rural getaway for a group with huge amounts of space, inside and out in the heart of the beautiful Quercy region.

Location

The neighbourhood

Excellent walking tracks spiral out into woods, valleys and vineyards from the house. Hire electric bikes in Monclar and explore some gorgeous medieval hilltop villages - Bruniquel, Puycelsi, Penne and Cordes-sur-Ciel with restaurants, galleries, cafes and weekly markets. Kayak on the Aveyron from St Antonin, sample the wines of Gaillac from many vineyards. Albi and the cathedral are a car drive.

Local points of interest from Bruno & Chantal Labie

  • Feeling lazy today ? Just relax by the largest private pool of the area! If you manage to move a bit... enjoy the wonderful view on the wild and large meadow. If you are lucky, you may see wild deers or does. They visit Daramousque almost every day.
  • Even in the winter time, there is plenty of things to do: wine tasting, long walks in the Gresigne forest, bike rides, museums at Montauban, and even a small cinema place in Monclar! You can also relax by the open fire at the Villa. What a wonderful world!
  • Crazy about History and medieval villages ? There is plenty of opportunities to visit old bastides at less than 30 minuets of Daramousque: Penne, Puycelsi, Bruniquel, Castelnau de Montmirail, Cordes sur Ciel, Lisle-sur-le-Tarn,... and many more!
  • Wine tasting is your favorite activity: you need to plan to stay at Daramousque for several weeks: Gaillac, Fronton, Cotes du Quercy,... many famous wineyards with Red, white, and rose wines for all types of meals. Enjoy...with moderation!
  • Want to get some exercise? Kayaking on the Aveyron, via ferrata on the Aveyron gorges, climbing vertical walls in the gorges, walking in the forest of Grésigne, cycling in the middle of the vineyards or the forest, there is plenty of choices for you
  • Ready to travel a couple of hours by car ? From Daramousque, you can reach the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, and the sky slopes of Pyrenees mountains. By clear sky, if you watch carefully towards South from Daramousque, you can see the mountains!

Introducing

Bruno & Chantal Labie

Bruno (an engineer) and Chantal (a biologist) are Belgian. They bought the house as a holiday home for them and their three children, having fell in love with the area after a year-long search. They love tennis, and sports and the food and wine of this delightful part of France. If they are not here to greet you then a friendly neighbour will.
