The Experience

The gîte has two terraces, one with a dining table and fire pit facing the spectacular views over the medieval town and the other ideal for morning coffee. The open-plan living room has a huge stone château-style fireplace with a lovely wood-burner, comfy sofas and a light, spacious feel. Off here is the sleek kitchen, big enough for helpers and with all the gear a cook might need – you can order a welcome hamper (charged extra) with local Cahors wine and other treats.

Bedrooms have the same stunning view, muted natural colour schemes and the most comfortable beds. These share a large walk-in shower room, stone wash basins with heated towel rails and a separate loo. Wander down to the pool, on a private terrace and surrounded by walled gardens, for a sunbathe or snooze – the peace is palpable.

Montcuq is 2km for a colourful Sunday market. Stock up with lots of local food and bring it back for a barbecue and a chat around the fire pit.

Reviews

We had a fabulous holiday at Gites Domaine Lapeze, Esther & Marcel were amazing hosts, so friendly and welcoming. The Gites is beautifully decorated and well equipped and perfect for a couple. The pool was a little chilly in October but would be ideal in high summer. The garden and nearby countryside is great for exploring. Montcuq is a great village, 20 minutes walk away with a great selection of bars and restaurants and shops. The nearest supermarket is even closer. Just a great place to stay and with more rooms available for b&b in the main house Domaine Lapeze gets better.

Outstanding! The Gîte at Domaine Lapeze is a beautifully restored building, really comfortable, well equipped and very stylish. While the excellent swimming pool is readily available, the Gîte retains its privacy for al fresco meals. Altogether a fine setting and a stunning view across the valley to Montcuq. Esther and Marcel are delightful and helpful hosts. All this, and the many facilities and eating places in the area, enabled us and our two teenage grandsons to have a thoroughly enjoyable fortnight stay.

Denis, Harrogate

Had a great stay with Marcel and Esther at this absolutely beautiful location. We stayed at the gite which was fantastic and the views and swimming pool were even better than shown in their details. During our stay we were really well looked after with restaurant bookings, walk suggestions, visits and sharing in some of the food produced by Esther. Highly recommended to visit. The Domaine, Montcuq and the area are great - really helped by the hospitality

We had a fantastic stay at Domaine Lapeze. The Gite was equipped with everything we needed and was immaculately presented. Marcel and Esther were great hosts and made us feel super welcome. The property, grounds and surrounding views were stunning. The Gite was near the village of Montcuq which was a lovely place with a small number of bars and restaurants in a lovely setting. We particularly enjoyed the Sunday market that was busy with locals and not "tourist" prices like we experienced in Provence. Thankyou for a great time Marcel and Esther!!

Domaine Lapéze is set in a serene and historic landscape between Montcuq and Lauzerte, overlooking the ancient pathway to Santiago de Compostela. The gite is a fusion of Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetic in its design, functionality and total attention to detail. Esther and Marcel are most welcoming and engaging hosts – nothing is too much trouble. Every aspect and necessity for a relaxing and comfortable stay has been anticipated and specified to the highest standard - from corkscrews to wifi!

This is our second visit in a matter of months to Esther and Marcel’s beautiful B&B, this time staying in their newly-opened gite, both times equally enjoyable. In the summer we had the pleasure of meeting a fellow guest, one of my journalist heroes, Carl Bernstein, who was one of the two American investigatory journalists, who exposed the Watergate scandal which led to the demise of President Nixon. In All the President’s Men, Carl is played by Dustin Hoffman. The gite is the epitome of understated elegance and charm with panoramic views and a beautiful pool. A lovely place to relax.

We had the most wonderful days at Domaine Lapèze! The owners were charming, friendly and making us feel welcome. The gite is very tasteful decorated, comfortable and very well-equipped. Domaine Lapèze is set in a beautiful countryside, within walking distance the nice village Montcuq, with good restaurants, bars and a real French market every Sunday morning, the area is great with so much to explore. Such peaceful and restful days we didn't want to leave and will return for sure.

I spent 3 days at Domaine Lapèze for the second time and it was a party again! the room is so tastefully decorated that you immediately feel at home, it is wonderful to stroll around the house in their serene garden and vineyard. I was lucky enough to see lambs being born in the land in front of the house at this time of the year. the owners Esther and Marcel are super nice and hospitable and there is plenty to see and do in the area around the lot, highly recommended!!!!

Trui, Amsterdam

A stylish and comfortable gîte sleeping four to five, enviably situated with a breathtaking view over Montcuq in the centre of the timeless Quercy Blanc region, where there is just so much to see!

Introducing

Esther & Marcel

Esther and Marcel came from a hectic background in fashion and IT in the Netherlands. They bought the Domaine in 2022 and knew instantly it was the right place for them. Renovations to the property are ongoing and keep them busy but they relish the change of pace and life in rural France. They speak English, French, Dutch and German and are very helpful and friendly.
