The Experience

Such a fabulous setting: sweeping lawns leading gently down to the river, century-old trees standing guard. On a wooded hill in this rolling landscape stands a turretted manor house, and around it, four gites beautifully created from a cluster of old buildings. All have private gardens for lazing around in, you can roam the grounds, swim in the river, and a second pool is being planned (the existing one is for B&B guests only). Choose between the 17th-century ‘L’Orangerie’ with huge elegant windows and state-of-the-art kitchen or ‘La Petite Maison’ with a covered terrace and a sweet river view. Or ‘La Miellerie’ (split into two) which, thanks to its honey-making history, comes with factory-size rooms; beehives were made here, honey processed, and big windows pull in the views. Everywhere, style, elegance and wonderful furnishings chosen by Marie, whose warmth and charm will seduce you. Within reach, Futuroscope, Poitiers, and the Brenne regional park, its numerous lakes resplendent with birds. Come with a party and take over the whole place.

Reviews

Simply fabulous! We came as a family for 5 days to this sublime estate. We were very well received and the table d'hote is worthy of a gourmet restaurant! The estate is very well maintained and the houses decorated with great taste. Marie has great taste! The children enjoyed the swimming pool and the activities that Paul recommended (canoeing, horse riding and cycling). They took great care of us and made us feel at home. We'll definitely be back! Thank you very much. Pascal. Oh, and the deer watching us as we stood under the 400-year-old oak by the river... it was like a dream!

A beautiful chateau in well tended grounds. L'Orangerie features an amazing selection of mid century furniture, with a quirky layout and a very well equipped kitchen. Marie's relaxed approach to sharing her home, together with her perfect English, make her an ideal host for this hidden gem.
