La Croix Verte

On a hot day it's a joy to sit out in the shady garden drinking Elizabeth's home-made elderflower cordial. Somehow she's managed to fill the stone-rimmed beds with an impressive collection of flowers. Take a walk around the village as the day cools to see the massive chateau and stone buildings centuries old and full of character. And then of course there's her home-cooked dinner!

Charming, peaceful, hosts friendly and interesting, food simple but excellent. Old house that has been carefully modernised and is full of pictures, books and comfortable well-chosen furniture. The village is quite small but has a bakery and picturesque corners to explore on an after-dinner stroll.

We felt in the heart of France chez Vincent & Elizabeth. Their house is a treasure trove of artistic delights and soooo French! We loved this B&B. Elizabeth’s cooking is not to be missed - we enjoyed the best meal of our holiday here with produce fresh from the garden. Absolutely delicious. Merci beaucoup!

Just back from La Croix Verte (1 night and first time in a Sawday b&b); lovely old house, full of interesting things, set in a charming cottagey garden; good welcome; excellent beds and breakfast; only problem: your google map is incorrect (as is the owner's on their own site!) The house is situated on the main road - not two streets further on between château and church as you show it. Curiously, google indicates it correctly on other sites).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Elizabeth and Vincent. They gave us a lovely welcome, the room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The supper was excellent as was the breakfast, everything homemade. Vincent was very helpful lending us a map to follow tracks for a lovely walk to the next village where we visited the home of the novelist George Sands. We plan to stay again at this delightful Band B on our return to the Uk

We only stayed one night as it was a stop on the journey down to the South of France but wished we had managed a second as there is quite a lot to see in the area especially concerning the author Georges Sand. There was a lovely spread of home made jams and cakes as part of a delicious breakfast and the room was airy clean and very comfortable. The hosts were charming. We would stay again. The neighbouring countryside provided a relaxing evening stroll and an interesting morning walk serenaded by Nightingales.
