The Experience
Pitch up at Agnès’s enchanting B&B and you won’t want to leave the warm, stylish haven she’s created. Step through the beautiful courtyard (you eat here in the summer), into an opulent hallway before being wowed by the huge, light-filled drawing room with riverside views. Curl up here with a book or sip an apéritif before dinner.
Your host is a talented ceramicist and much of her work fills her impeccably furnished home – join one of her pottery courses if you like. Gorgeous big bedrooms are upstairs and continental breakfast is a treat with homemade gâteaux, croissants, fruit, ham, eggs, cheese.
Stroll into elegant Amboise for a crêpe or a fancy Michelin-star dinner. Visit Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci’s last home, now a fascinating museum dedicated to his life and works – the 3D reproductions of his inventions are awe-inspiring. Dotting the region in a rich patchwork of delights are numerous châteaux, villages and vineyards.

I really didn't want to leave this beautiful B&B. Agnès has created a very peaceful, artistic haven in this beautiful house, in one of the Loire's most favoured tourist towns. Truly inspiring!

Location
The neighbourhood
Amboise is charming and elegant, one of the gems of the Loire, and you're a stroll from cafés, bars and restaurants. The Château Royal d'Amboise, former home to French kings is a must-visit. The vineyards of Montlouis and Vouvray, specialising in sparkling and still white wines using the local Chenin grape, are close by for tours and tastings. Tours is a 30-min drive and has a lovely town centre.
Introducing
Agnès Breger
Talented Agnès renovated her extremely chic townhouse in 2021 and has effortlessly filled it with beautiful things, including original art and her own ceramics. She can throw a pot in a few minutes - we highly recommend spending a few hours learning her art - and has enough time in the day to make cakes and homemade jams for guests' breakfasts.
To step into Maison Hulotte is to step into a beautiful dream. I fell in love with it when I saw the online photos, but it's even better in person. The decor, the breakfast, the views! Agnes, the owner, has exquisite taste, and she shares it freely and easily with her guests. The location, too, is most convenient. We parked our car in the free lot by the bridge and walked everywhere. Amboise has many charms.
