The Experience
This charming 16th-century manor house is in the centre of the village with a shady courtyard and a winding track leading to woodlands and vineyards.
Véronique has created a haven of serenity inside: the decor is an exuberant mix of formal and informal, contemporary and traditional with muted tones on the walls running throughout. Rooms are a delight, furnished with a simple understated elegance to mirror the historical character of the house.
Steps and pathways entice you through a series of ‘secret’ gardens, doorways cut in high hedges offer intriguing glimpses of the Loire valley, and the enchanting basin pool dug out from the rock face, warmed only by the stone within which it’s encased. Plan your day over a great breakfast in the beamy salon: charming Amboise and its château is a 35-minute walk; hire bikes and take a leisurely cycle along the river to Blois.

We stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Amboise. Our room was warm, very comfortable and beautifully furnished with respect for the history of the manor house and a contemporary twist. We had a lovely welcome from Veronique and she was helpful in recommending local places to eat. Breakfast was delicious with local produce and plenty of good coffee. We would definitely stay here again.

I would absolutely love to stay here. It is incredibly special with its secluded courtyard, bassin pool dug out from the rock and lawns overlooking the valley. Such a wonderful base to explore the region.

Beautiful place, set on a steep hillside with views across to Amboise in the distance. Room (Olivia) large with a small shower room and separate toilet. Breakfasts excellent, summer kitchen with fridge and barbecues available for guests use. Amboise within easy reach, good choice of retaurants. Owner speaks excellent English if you need it, and is very informative about the history of the Chateau. Loire valley and all its delights on the doorstep.

Chateau de Nazelles is a beautiful place to stay, and Veronique and her family were extremely welcoming. Veronique recommended a very good restaurant for dinner (and pointed us in the direction of the degustation in the morning!). We stayed in one of the rooms carved into the rock, which was very spacious and tastefully decorated with a fabulous bathroom. This is a magical chateau in a stunning setting, with plenty of room given over to guests including kitchen facilities and a large lounge. Breakfast was delcious, especially the local honey! We hope to return!

Location
The neighbourhood
Pretty Amboise is a short drive (or a 12-minute cycle) – from there catch the train to Tours in 30 minutes and wander the lovely Parisian-like streets. For ticking off the Loire châteaux from your list, this is a good base: there’s Chenonceaux, Chaumont and Clos Lucé - the home of Da Vinci - within a 25-minute drive, as well as Blois and Chambord within an hour.
Local points of interest from Véronique & Olivier Fructus
- The city of Amboise, 3km away, is a beautiful town, featuring shops, restaurants, farmers markets (Fri and Sun) and world heritage monuments to visit : the Royal Chateau, the house of Leonardo da Vinci, and Chateau Gaillard.
- Chateau de Chenonceau, the most visited in the Loire valley and probably the most charming. Chateau de Chambord, world known for its spectacular architecture, the largest chateau of the Loire.
- Chateau the Chaumont & its extravagant garden festival (april-oct). Chateau de Cheverny, still owned by the same family since its construction. Very popular (hunting) dogs' soup every day! Also Blois, beautiful Renaissance city on the Loire river!
- Kayaking: there is an access to a river from our park. Go for a relaxed trip on the river! For a more challenging river trip, you can also kayak on the Loire river, 3km away, or 15km away on the river Cher.
- Explore the area. By bike: from our B&B you can easily access the Loire à Vélo cycling route (www.cycling-loire.com). Horse riding available 4 km away: we can organise trips for you (book in advance). Hot air balloon rides also possible 2km away.
- Massages: we now offer massages (by the pool in the morning, or in the chateau). Please contact us to book ahead of your trip.

Introducing
Véronique & Olivier Fructus
Delightful and chatty Véronique and Olivier split their time between running the B&B, where they live, and their hotel, just over a kilometre apart from each other. They run a tight ship with their smiley, professional team and are very knowledgeable about the area.
Perched on the hillside overlooking the Loire valley, Château de Nazelles is a unique and welcoming place to stay. The interior has been lovingly restored and we felt very comfortable. The pool was fabulous and the breakfast set us up perfectly for the day. The chateau is a great base to explore the Loire Valley. Amboise is a short drive and it offers lots of lovely bars and restaurants. We’ll definitely be back!
