The Experience

Owner Caroline’s dramatic décor brings this place to life, with vintage tiles, huge frescoes and bold colours. If you rent the house for 2 people you get the double room that opens onto the enclosed garden, if there are 4 of you there’s a second bedroom with a view of the Madeloc tower. In July and August you can rent the top floor also and sleep up to 12.

The indoor and outdoor spaces flow seamlessly. A state of the art kitchen at the heart of the house begs for communal cooking, the bright garden room leads to the outdoor breakfast bar for morning espressos by the quirky pool.

It’s a short stroll to the old town of Coullioure. The iconic church-cum-lighthouse, Notre-Dame-des-Anges, overlooks the town beach and there a plenty of bars for an evening apéritif looking out over the glittering bay. A haven for artists, Matisse spent time here and some of his paintings hang in the in the Museum of Modern Art. Venture out of town for coastal walks, secluded coves and sea swims.

Reviews

The house was great, in good order, clean, and well equipped, fantastic view over the mountains, garden and pool area was a very nice place to be, particularly the outdoor dining area and BBQ. Only about 10 minutes walk into the town area. The town is very well preserved with many attractions, shops, cafes and bars and some high end and affordable dining. Denis, the host was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Paul, Worcester

Very Nice home and city, the place to be. Collioure is magic, Caroline and Denis are very very friendly. Their home is very Nice, beautifull pool, good bed, everything is beautiful. You Park your car in front of the House and no need to touch it during your stay.

Jérôme, Paris

Booked direct via the Villa Casaroom website. A warm and friendly welcome from Denis who had presented the villa so beautifully. And what an amazing place! So full of character and charm with many homely touches. Extremely well equipped kitchens for any enthusiastic chef to enjoy. So many places around the villa to gather as a group, lose yourself with a good book and a bottle of local wine or just to sit and enjoy the view. Collioure itself is stunning and only 10 minutes down the hill to plenty of bars and restaurants although we relished the prospect of catering for ourselves at the villa.

Richard and Michelle, Blandford St Mary, Dorset

We felt welcome from the moment we walked into Villa Casaroom. The sunken lounge, with its open kitchen gave a cosseting feel. Views towards Tour Madeloc, downstairs the brightly-coloured Toile du Soleil dining and sitting area, inviting out to the garden and pool area, made us feel pampered. It was a really thoughful touch to be able to set the temperature of each room individually.

Location

The neighbourhood

You are in a smart residential neighbourhood in the newer part of Collioure, with views across to the Massif des Albères, just a 7-minute walk downhill to the old town. There are plenty of good restaurants; L'imprevue, Mamma and Derrière le Clocher are Caroline and Denis' favourites. The nearest train station is 10 minutes' walk and there is private parking for two cars at the villa.

Local points of interest from Caroline & Denis Roumagnac Sematiski

  • Panoramic sea view? Take a walk along the coastal path just opposite the villa for a short or long hike dotted with creeks. Nice any time of the year, with or without a pet. Sunrise, sunset... Always amazing!
  • For chefs and food lovers - visit the market twice a week to find fresh, local produce. Don't leave without trying oysters with a glass of white wine before you head back. Prepare a meal to enjoy in good company at the villa.
  • Go for a walk in the village, through the narrow streets, around the bay, from one beach to another. An array of bars and stunning views await you with an aperitif or stay to dine for the evening.
  • Fancy some sport? Go to the charming tennis club, with its courts in the shade of the oaks. On Saint Vincent beach, chat to the sailing club instructors about paddling and sailing activities. An abundance of beautiful surroundings to practice!
  • Discover the royal castle, the church, the museums, the forts, the chapels and understand why Matisse, Derrain, Picasso, Mucha, Dali... fell in love with this region. Cross the border for a day trip to Cadaqués or Figueres.
  • With our beloved wine merchant, taste and discover the grape varieties and wine growers. Stroll through the vineyards that have shaped these hills of the Côte Vermeille.

Introducing

Caroline & Denis Roumagnac Sematiski

The villa was built for Caroline's grandparents and she has a great affection for the house and local area. When they passed it down to her, she gave the villa a dramatic makeover, filling it with bold colours and giving the place a new lease of life. Caroline and Denis live nearby with their rescue dog, Skipper, and they greet you with a bottle of wine.
