The Experience
A village house with thoroughly easy-going owners: artist Derek (you’ll see his water colours on the walls) and designer Wendy (who organises monthly jazz concerts) have knocked down walls to create lots of light and space. Find high ceilings, terracotta tiles and golden beams – plenty of books, sculptures and rugs create a homely, but not cluttered, feel. Bedrooms have the best linen and are soft and fresh; the bathroom has a power shower and white robes. Pay extra for a generous breakfast at one long table, or sleep in and grab something in the village later. Discover the quiet, fecund garden; cool off in the sparkling pool.

Wonderful week spent with the delightful Wendy and Derek at Artistes. We were made to feel at home and our dog immediately took to the place. The garden and pool are superb and the breakfasts started the days brilliantly. Lauren’s is a great place to explore this region and there are several excellent restaurants nearby

We were made very welcome by Wendy Ogg and Derick Corke Our room was spacious and comfortable with an en-suite. Outside was a lovely pool and outside kitchen at our disposal, but most of all we felt very relaxed to come and go as we pleased, and even had friends round. We will definitely go again to Wendy and Derick's beautiful house.

This is a charming place hidden away behind unostentatious house fronts in the village of Laurens. But behind is a lovely garden full of flowers and a secluded swimming pool and shaded kitchen/sitting area. This is a wonderfully relaxing place to be. Wendy and Derek are lovely hosts and think of everything you might need - a phone charger with multiple sockets, a UK adapter (if you've forgotten yours) and a great selection of books and guides. Wendy can prepare an ample and delicious breakfast if you want it. We want to go back.

Wendy and Derek are simply the best! We came very last minute after 10pm on a Sunday night because our Airbnb host bailed on us and they did everything to be able to host us that night. They were above charming with us! The house is simply beautiful, very comfortable, everything has been carefully thought off and made to ensure a perfect stay! From the beautiful and large pool with a picnic set to the bottle of wine in the parental suite: everything was perfection! Thank you again so much!!! Lucie, Thomas, Beranger & Ophélie

BLISSFUL. We arrived Sunday and the local restaurant was closed, Wendy and Derek kindly cooked us a dinner after our long journey in there wonderful garden with candles and lights. Spent two weeks and left feeling amazing, such a pretty place, relaxing around the pool. Walk to bakery and restaurant. Wendy and Derek are so helpful and knowledgeable of the area and recommended excellent places to visit. Wendy makes an excellent Gin and Tonic! Was a fabulous two weeks and excellent hosts.

A wonderful place. After a short drive from Beziers airport we were relaxing by the pool. Our bedroom & en suite bathroom were large, spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast, outside on the terrace, was delightful; fresh, healthy and so much of it! Wendy & Derek were great hosts; friendly, welcoming and helpful, but also giving us the privacy to enjoy our stay undisturbed. It was a pleasure to meet them both. Laurens was the perfect location to strike out and experience the area. Our holiday was made quite magical by our stay at Maison des Artist. We‘d love to return. Thank you both.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maison des Artists, the house is airy and colourful, our room had all we needed, and the pool and garden are delightful, both during the day and night! Wendy and Derek were wonderful hosts, very helpful when needed but also giving their guests space. They were also very obliging enabling our son who was working in France to come and stay for a couple of nights. Breakfast was delicious too. The village is full of character, there is a fantastic, reasonably priced local restaurant with delicious wine. We only wished we could have stayed longer.

Wendy and derick are perfect hosts; available but retiring to give you a perfect stay. They know their france well and can share their thoughts entertainigly. The pool and garden have been put together with care and love. The agricultural traffic at the front can be mostly excluded by the well restored window double glazing. The breakfasts , outside , are great . the house is well named ; enjoy the art

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Wendy Ogg
- We are easy going and enjoy guests coming to our house to experience all that the South of France has to offer. We have been doing B&B for years. Many guests have come to house hunt and end up buying here in the village! It's possible to book mid week.
- We offer luxury B&B with exclusive use of the pool at all times. Breakfast is optional, there is a summer kitchen for you up at the pool & BBQ, We have many ‘chill out’ areas in the garden or at the pool, lovely by day & candle-light in the evening.
- Languedoc is the largest producer of wine in the world. Laurens is a wine producing village situated between mountains & the Mediterranean, in some of the most beautiful scenery in France. Plenty to explore here with amenities a short walk from the house
- Some of the best beaches in South of France are 18 miles to the South of us. All water sports are catered for and you will find a large range of excellent cafes and seafood restaurants.
- Activities throughout the year, monthly Jazz concerts in the house & garden, wine tasting, chateau exploring, French markets - Pezenas, Clermont-l’Herault, beaches, golf, canoeing, village fetes, Beziers Feria, horseriding, hill walking, caving & karting
- Getting here is easy, lots of cheap flights from UK to Beziers all year, also to Perpignan, Carcassonne, Nimes, Montpellier. All these cities are fabulous to visit. You can also travel on the excellent TGV train from London right down to Beziers.

We just spent a wonderful week at Wendy and Derek's. They immediately made us feel at home, and we had the pool, and all the very nice space surrounding it (including the summer kitchen and bbq) to ourselves. We did spend a couple of days just lazing by the pool, reading, looking at the stars at night, and then spent the other days exploring the area which is so beautiful. Great to walk to the bakery in the morning (5 min walk) to get a croissant and baguette and then eat breakfast by the pool! We can't recommend it enough! Thank you so much Wendy and Derek for making our stay so unforgetable
