The Experience

The layout is difficult to describe with doors leading to ‘one doesn’t know where’, the colourful kitchen straddling the arch over the street and one of the bedrooms down some steep stairs, but all that adds to its specialness. Walk in to a delightful sitting room with a high ceiling and mezzanine, very comfy seating and an enormous wood-burning stove from Alsace. From here you reach the terrace with 180-degree views over the valley, where the sun sets behind the Cévennes and there are soft seats to enjoy it all from. In hot weather you can cool off here with an outdoor solar shower.

One bedroom is downstairs with its own little sitting room and a jolly good bath/shower room, the other is vast with a big shower and looks over the street. You’ll sleep incredibly peacefully, even in the middle of such a bustling village, serenaded by scops owls in summer.

Wander the vibrant main street, constantly full of life and local characters.

We spent there a week end of October. The apartment is well equipped, charming and full of character. The village has a really nice atmosphere, and as you are in the heart of the village, you are connected to village life with views from the windows on the one side. The spacious terrace on the other part offers you plenty of Mediterranean feeling. Marcus, the concierge, is happy to assist you with tips and questions at any time. For sure a place to come back!

This house is remarkable. It is comfortable, spacious and beautifully furnished. It has enormous charm and a terrace with breathtaking views. Vezenobre is a gem of a medieval village and Le Porche is embedded within it. I think it one of the most delightful holiday homes we have stayed in. The area has masses to do and is a lovely part of France. Within easy reach of Avignon, Nimes and Uzez and plenty of smaller towns between. We took the train to Avignon and hired a car. Stress free and a great break.

Utterly charming and unique, the views from the terrace are sublime and the whole house is bursting with character. Vezenobres is a beautiful hilltop village with delicious creperie right next door. The Roman ampitheatre in Nimes is a must-see as is the awe-inspiring Pont du Gard, we even managed a little river swim nearby. This is the France you are looking for!

Location

The neighbourhood

On Tuesday evenings in July and August it is food truck night with long trestle tables set up, great local food and a live band – join in the fantastic atmosphere. Footpaths lead from the village for long or short walks; Mialet is a tiny hamlet with a wild swimming spot; Uzès is 30 mins for a superb market twice a week, shops, restaurants and cafés. Lovers of Roman history will head to Nîmes.

Local points of interest from

This hidden gem of a tiny but vibrant medieval village offers festivals during the year, a summer market in its centre and various different places to eat and drink throughout the year including food truck Tuesdays in the summer. There is often live music.
The UNESCO and utterly astounding Pont du Gard is a must. The photos of it are impressive but nothing beats walking across it - those Romans really meant business! You could even canoe here from Collias further downriver.
There are some gorgeous brocante markets in the area at Barjac (look up dates), Sommieres (every Saturday), Anduze (Sunday). Roman towns to visit include Arles, Nimes, Avignon and their summer festivals. You can also reach the sea - Sete is a lovely destination.
Wild swimming: during the summer at Le lac des Camboux, river swimming at Mialet.
The circular and beautiful town of Uzes is just 30 mins away - lovely for shops, cafes, restaurants. Volver is a gastronomic restaurant on the way to Uzes at Serviers-et-Labaume.
If walking is your thing, there are several paths up behind the village for circular walks or you could get up early and head over to Mas de la Barque, park up and spend a fabulous day walking and dipping in rivers in the wild Cevennes.
