The Experience

These are classic apartments d’hôtes so choose between looking after yourself – there are good kitchens in all the spaces – or friendly owner Pascale can bring over whatever you ask for at breakfast time; fresh croissants from the bakery, charcuterie and cheese.

Step into town for exploring, treat yourselves to a delicious meals nearby or drive straight out into champagne country for a trail through all the houses and taste copious different cuvées. Culture seekers will head for Reims and the cathedral. As soon as you leave town you’re among the vines and winding quiet roads perfect for cycling.

It’s peaceful for the middle of town and Pascale can organise a champagne tasting in the vaulted cellar for you. Those in the middle floor apartment can have a sundowner on the terrace and watch the town settle down for the night.

Location

The neighbourhood

Épernay is rather grand in its architecture with lots of old banks and town houses with double front doors. Visit the Avenue de Champagne - a who’s who of champagne houses including Moët et Chandon, De Castellane and Mercier. Tour the vaults where 200-year old tunnels remain at a steady cool temperature for the champagne to mature. Straight out of town you're on the champagne trail, Reims is close.

Introducing

Pascale Macra

Lively and enthusiastic Pascale was a fund manager and based mostly in Paris or London but prefers her life as a host - it is meeting people she likes most of all. She started living in Épernay recently and spent a year and a half renovating the house. She lives just down the road and has a rich knowledge of the area.
