The Experience

Monsieur Lenoble’s attention to detail is staggering. Not content with creating a buzzing, cheerful restaurant he has lovingly transformed a priory and farm buildings – stables, dovecotes, stone structures on varied levels, wooden verandas topped with red-patterned Burgundian roof tiles – into a very seductive hotel. Each bedroom has a trade for a theme: a typewriter and old books for the ‘writer’; antique irons for the ‘laundress’; horse and ox collars for the ‘ploughman’; vine-decorated wooden panels for the ‘wine-grower’. The walls have been lightly skimmed in plaster in natural shades of ochre, pigeon-egg grey or light yellow. Floors are terracotta or flagstone, stone walls are painted, rafters exposed and windows round or cottage square with curtains of vintage linens and lace. Beds are king-size, mattresses are excellent and TVs are hidden in antique cabinets. Most bathrooms are open plan so as not to detract from the beams and volumes. There is even a sheltered sun lounge on the terrace only overlooked by sparrows. A nice place to sit and sample your chilled choice picked up in Chablis.

Reviews

This is a hidden gem. This is the 2nd time of staying here and we were slightly hesitant as we’d loved the hotel last time 8 years ago. We weren’t disappointed, it retains is charm in every way. It’s a beautiful hotel and the auberge food is outstanding. Staff relaxed, friendly and helpful. Great place to stay on route from Calais to the Alps.

The Lenoble have created the most charming hotel and restaurant, renovating an old priory and farm to a high standard, with a lot of respect to their history. The vaulted cellar breakfast rooms are superb and I also loved the several terraces, perfect for enjoying a glass of Chablis there with a good book! Stay for dinner to enjoy exquisite Burgundian meals, served by the friendliest staff. A gem!

Such a lovely place to stay! Our family room was great, very clean and we had plenty of room. The hotel itself is fantastic, a really unique place to stay but without a doubt the restaurant and Serge's hospitality are the showstoppers. Serge was so helpful, giving us suggestions on what to see while we were in the area and also helping us to find an emergency vet for our dog. The quality of the food in the restaurant and the accompanying wine menu are of an incredibly high standard and dining there was a highlight of our holiday. Thank you for a lovely stay!

This was a bit off our usual route back from the Alps to the Channel, but well worth the stop. The room was very prettily decorated, with a comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom. I'm not quite sure how many rooms there are, but they are good value (although beware the extra cost for breakfast - definitely worth it, but we hadn't clocked the supplement when booking). The restaurant was a real treat - and busy, with a variety of diners from singles to couples and families. The staff were both efficient and very welcoming - we would return if in the area.

Having visited in June 2015 we enjoyed our stay so much we were back again at the end of September to celebrate birthdays and anniversary. Great food, rooms and service. One of the best we have stayed at with great value for money. Locals travel to eat at this auberge which tells you everything about the quality of food!

We discouvered Beursaudiere in 1992 and have been returning once or twice a year from the USA. We consider it our 'home away from home'! It is our favorite place to stay and dine in France!

Only managed one night stay but enjoyed looking around the hotel at all the artefacts that the owners have collected. Excellent dinnner in a nearly full restaurant even though it was a cold snowy Sunday night in February. Plenty of regional dishes to choose from and a cheeseboard of 8 local cheeses We hope to stay longer next time and explore more of Burgundy.
