The Experience
Described in 1886 as “well-proportioned and elegant in its simplicity,” Vaulx is as lovely now as then, and in the most beautiful position, in deep country, high on a hill with views that stretch to distant purple mountains. There’s a panelled drawing room with chandeliers, a dining room with fresh flowers, antiques and strong, exciting colours.
The gardens are beautifully maintained: lawns manicured, box balls tightly topiaried, and there are quiet places to sit and read.
You’re perched in gorgeous countryside so set off with a picnic for an all-day walk, cycle down to the village, St-Julien-de-Civry or visit magnificent Roman churches; Anzy-Le-Duc is a 20-minute drive. Float in the pool, take a book to the sitting room or terrace, sleep in light-filled rooms with views and not a hint of road noise. Wake to fresh sourdough from the village bakery, charcuterie, cheeses and jams with proper bowls of good coffee.
You’re welcome to use the enormous kitchen if you don’t want to go out, it’s that sort of place.

Introducing
Bruno & Valou de Theux
Bruno and Valou stayed at Château de Vaulx as guests themselves and loved the building and surroundings so much that they bought it a few years later. They are wonderful hosts and strive to continue with the tradition of hospitality at Vaulx with passion. Bruno takes care of the garden and vegetable patch and Valou also enjoys making bouquets from the garden's flowers. You may also meet Canadian Barry, he helps with taking the bookings and knows the place inside out.
What a treat! Escape to the peaceful countryside while enjoying luxurious surroundings and a hearty welcome without pretension. The fact that so many visitors return year after year speaks for itself.
