The Experience

You’re well looked after here and surrounded by gorgeous old architectural details like stone fireplaces, original ceilings and beautiful windows, but there is much modern comfort. Roomy bedrooms (one used to be a kitchen) all face the inner courtyard, away from the road, and are filled with antiques and interesting finds; bathrooms are en suite with walk-in showers.

Philippe lays out breakfast for you: croissants and bread, fruits, yogurts, homemade jams, home-baked cakes, good coffee. Dinner is delicious (let them know the day before) and is a three-course feast of regional produce including bœuf bourguignon, or pork from a local butcher. Take your bottle of wine into the garden for an aperitif, admire the water lily ponds and Japanese garden.

Pamper yourselves in the wellness area with spa and sauna, settle into the large living room/library and choose a book or have a game of electronic darts, relax by the big sparkling pool.

Location

The neighbourhood

The château is right on the edge of a small village, just on the outskirts of larger La Clayette. Views away from the village are across fields and small hills, lovely for walking and cycling. La Clayette is minutes away with a main street full of shops and cafés and a bustling market on Tuesday mornings. The whole area is famous for its Renaissance churches and glorious architecture.

Introducing

Philippe & Stéphanie Brachon

Originally from Lyon, Philippe and Stéphanie opted for a complete life change as retirement beckoned. They bought the château in 2023 which already had solar panels and a heat pump, they recycle enthusiastically and source local produce. They are easy-going, friendly and love opening their home to guests.
