The Experience
The gracious owners like to get to know you over dinner; though, should you prefer a romantic meal for two, they’ll understand. Deep in the Parc du Morvan, the château was built in 1782 as a summer retreat. Bedrooms, charmingly decorated by Catherine, are large, light and airy, with warm colours and polished floors. They are dressed in château-style finery with canopied four-poster or draped bedheads and sleigh beds.
Bathrooms are as they should be – claw-foot baths carry exquisite antique taps – and views sail out of great windows to meadows and woodland beyond. Your five-course dinner is served in a candlelit dining room or outside.
Two comfortable sitting rooms plus a small library are yours to relax in – outdoors you’ll find pool, tennis courts and electric bikes to borrow. Beaune and the vineyards lie temptingly close.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're surrounded by rolling pasture, much privately owned by the château so walks and cycles are endless. There is a good restaurant in Poil, 2kms away or else several restaurants in Luzy or Saint-Didier - around 10kms. Much visited little Autun, an easy drive, still has the original fortified walls around the old town and sits in a wonderful setting with the Morvan Hills behind it.
Local points of interest from Catherine & Coen Stork
- Visit Bibracte/Mont Beuvray, an old Gallo-Roman archaeological site
- Go to Beaune, a beautiful Medieval Burgundian town about 75km away.
- Autun, an old Roman town about 25 km away.
- Shooting estate.
- Vineyards.

Introducing
Catherine & Coen Stork
Coen and Catherine - he's Dutch, she's Belgian - fell in love with this little château in 2002, did it up together, then had their wedding here and now have two children: they love their adopted country.
