The Experience
Bernard and Annick are so welcoming, inviting you in to enjoy their home and gardens. The house, built for the master of the châteaux in 1860, has deep history which can be felt throughout; it’s easy to imagine its heyday with vines planted right up to the terrace.
Burgundy’s cellars are its main draw but its charms extend beyond wine. Gentle countryside for walking, cycling, photography and birdwatching surrounds you. Just a five-minute drive from the house is the Route des Grands Crus, stretching for 30 kilometres through ancient stone villages and vineyards. Closer is handsome, cobbled Beaune with its colourful tiled roofs.
Waist-widening French breakfasts of homemade jam, cakes and fruit from the orchard will set you up for a day of sipping and swirling in the vineyards. Gather up some picnic ingredients and bring them home to enjoy in the extensive gardens.

Our second visit was as good as the first visit in 2017. Outstanding hospitality from hosts Annick and Bernard made our 5 day stay relaxing and memorable. The tranquil rural setting and lush garden added to the overall ambience of this elegant country house. We were made to feel most welcome and the home grown seasonal fruits for breakfast were a special delight.

Superb - we spent three nights here. An elegant house, with an equally elegant, spacious bedroom which opened on to the garden - large, rambling, with sheep at the bottom. Annick and Bernard were excellent hosts - and we particularly enjoyed seeing your work and studio, Bernard. Located tucked away in the centre of a village a couple of miles from Beaune, perfect for sampling the fruits of the Bourgogne! And well located just off the motorway for stop-off en route to the south. But we'd recommend staying longer ...

Annick and Bernard are the perfect hosts in their beautiful house in Beaune. You drive just a few minutes and you are in vineyards and an idyllic setting. The manor is lovely, the family room set up perfectly for our family of four. Spotlessly clean, tea and coffee and water in our room, a lovely breakfast which they very kindly gave us a little early so we could get back on the road. Our only regret was that we only had a few hours there. We need to go back to enjoy their beautiful garden and meet the four sheep in their field beyond.

We stayed here with our two young children (4 and 7) on our journey back to Calais from Provence. Annick and Bernard were so welcoming despite our late arrival. We had a wonderfully comfortable room with great bathroom and adjoining room for our children. The place was spotless, comfortable and set in a quite location just 5 minutes drive from Beaune. Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast, plentiful with fresh croissants, fresh breakfast and quality preserves. A real gem. Thank you Annick and Bernard.

Location
The neighbourhood
Hidden behind high stone walls clad in clambering plants and great swathes of rose bushes: the house is in the heart of a rural village but extensive gardens give it a middle-of-nowhere feel. Bar its excellent vineyards, Chorey-les-Beaune lacks anywhere to eat, drink or shop, but it’s a 15-minute stroll to the charming hotel restaurant at Hermitage de Corton. The city of Beaune is just two kilometres away.
Introducing
Annick des Roseaux
Bernard and Annick are the fifth generation of Des Roseaux to live here – Bernard’s great grandfather, an architect, completely restructured the house in his time. They took over the house in 2012 and spent their first two years renovating; their taste and artistic flair can be seen all over the house, and Bernard will happily welcome you into his workshop where he paints vivid landscapes in oil, pastel and watercolour.
Booked two nights on return journey to Calais, so perfect decided on an extra night! This attractive French country house is quite delightful and with its close proximity to Beaune and surrounding wine villages makes a perfect base to explore region. Annick and Bernard are extremely welcoming and charming hosts, nothing was too much trouble in their quest to make this a perfect stay for us. Delicious breakfasts with homemade delights and homegrown framboises were served every morning in their pretty garden. Ensuite room was spacious, meticulously decorated and spotlessly clean.
