The Experience

This old winemaker’s house has been deliciously revived: the facade restored to its former glory while the inside has been opened up to allow natural light to rush in. The feel is contemporary but cosy: clever lighting, good use of materials, no TVs in the bedrooms. You’ll feel very relaxed stretching out in your room or the guest lounge overlooking the pretty walled garden.

Breakfast is a treat, you eat on the veranda (or in the garden on hot days); choose continental style or English. Simple, delicious lunches and suppers can be booked, or a chef can be arranged for something a bit more special. Help yourself at the honesty bar, or choose wine from the extensive list and chat to other guests or read in front of the fire. Dip in the pool, book a session in the sauna.

You’re in the centre of picturesque Pommard and it’s only ten minutes to lively Beaune. Owner Isabelle and manager Anda are charming and happy to advise.

Reviews

I completely fell under the charm of La Maison de Pommard. There is a beautiful alliance of contemporary and original features, and Isabelle and Anda make you feel at ease instantly. I could see myself enjoying a glass of one of their wines, sat in the veranda, gazing at the garden. Each room has its own personality and invite you to relax...before hopping on a bike to explore the nearby vineyards!

Location

The neighbourhood

Pommard has a bakery, butchers, chocolatier, good restaurant and two wine bars. Beaune is a ten-minute drive (15-min cycle) and is full of good places to eat; go wine tasting in the labyrinth of underground wine cellars. The architectural jewel in its crown is the 15th century Gothic Hospices de Beaune. Don’t miss the lively Saturday morning farmers' market; hire electric bikes to ride part of the 90km Voie des Vignes Véloroute through prestigious Burgundy vineyards.

Local points of interest from Isabelle De Montille

  • You are just 15 minutes bike ride from famous wine capital Beaune. Or go to opposite direction to Meursault - the village of Grand Crus.
  • Each Saturday morning farmers market takes place in Beaune. All kinds of local foods are on display to tempt one’s taste buds, including huge rolls of cheese, freshly baked loaves of bread, herbs, spices and mounds of vegetables.

Introducing

Isabelle De Montille

Isabelle comes from a family of Burgundy winemakers and was living in Paris when she inherited the house. She has a passion for architecture and a flair for interiors and spent seven years project managing the architect-led renovation of the house. She wanted to create a warm but contemporary place whilst being sensitive to the building's history and roots. She opened the doors to guests in summer 2021.
