The Experience

On the ground floor there’s a sitting room with comfortable sofa and chairs, bright colours liven things up and there’s plenty to do if the weather isn’t playing, with good WiFi and telly. You eat in a separate dining room or out on the deck in the garden. Here you’ll find a good lawn, a herbaceous border and some very old trees, including a lime and a monkey puzzle.

The kitchen is very well equipped and Valérie leaves you a generous amount of basics including olive oil, pasta and sweets for children. Two bedrooms upstairs, both with a queen size bed and a single, are simple and colourful and you’ll find towelling slippers and bathrobes and a handy laundry room. The shared bathroom has double basins and a large bath with overhead shower.

You’re within strolling distance of an excellent boulangerie to collect your croissants and baguettes in the morning and there are several good restaurants in town.

Location

The neighbourhood

Hédé-Bazouges is a small, quiet town with the canal, and its 11 locks, running through it. Lovely to walk along the towpath under mature trees or simply sit by the locks gazing. The owners recommend eating at Le ‘Genty Home’. Combourg is a 15-minute drive for a castle, art galleries and plenty of shops and restaurants. You're within driving distance of Saint-Malo and the Côtes d’Emeraude beaches.

  • Situated in the heart of the village, in a park planted with lime trees adjacent to the château, it overlooks the Pays d'Hédé-Bazouges valley, 2 km from the Maison du Canal d'Ille-et-Rance and the famous '11 locks' site.
  • This vacation home features 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, bed linen, towels, a flat-screen TV, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and a terrace with garden views.
