The Experience

It’s a lovely approach and the surroundings are verdant and peaceful – you’ll feel your shoulders drop instantly. Bedrooms are in the main house or the pretty cottage and all are charming, but if you come as two couples take the cottage as you then have your own sitting room with wood-burner and will feel very private.

Breakfast includes fresh bread and croissants, homemade jams, fruit from the garden, home-baked cakes, eggs from their own chickens and more. A delicious dinner is served on Fridays and Saturdays which you can order in advance, or you can summon up a gourmet board or seafood platter on the evenings they’re not serving dinner.

Wander to the fecund potager, find a hammock, deck chairs, magnificent old trees including a 350-year-old oak and a heavily scented linden, take a picnic to the field. This is the most peaceful, magical place to stay.

Reviews

House & gardens are beautiful, a result of the care and attention put into its restoration. The cottage is spacious, with fully equipped kitchen. Lots to see and do within a short distance, great if you have a bicycle. The hospitality was fantastic, breakfasts delicious and served to us in the cottage - inside or in the garden. Also highly recommend the dinner for a special treat! Beautiful cooking with fresh seasonal ingredients from the local market. Seafood board also great, homemade gravalax and fish rillettes! Overall, we can highly recommend for a relaxing break and we will be back!

What a magical place!! We loved the whole experience. The Manoir has been exquisitely restored. Thibaut and Virginia were the perfect hosts and cooked a fabulous dinner and gorgeous fresh breakfast. We had such a special time and will definitely return.

Geoff and Christine, Churt, England

We stayed in the cottage in the grounds of the Manor House and loved every single minute of it. Private & spacious, and a garden to enjoy. A breakfast of croissants and preserves, home made clafoutis or pancakes was brought over by Virginie & Thibaut every morning. The whole cottage is furnished in period furniture, from the comfortable sofa and chairs in the TV/ sitting room to the perfect king sized bed covered in fresh white linen. The kitchen has every appliance you would need to cook a meal. Virginie recommended local places to visit. We intend to return regularly. Recommended!!

I love the romantic, rustic charm of the cottage and the tranquillity of the gardens, a lovely place to return to after a busy day in nearby Saint-Malo.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're just 10 minutes by car from Saint-Malo and an array of restaurants. Head for the Quai Solidor, take a walk along the promendade to a medieval tower. Find parks, walks, restaurants and beaches – some fantastically wild ones along the rocky coast. On a rainy day visit the aquarium or the aquatic centre. The TGV can take you from Saint-Malo to Paris.

Local points of interest from Thibaut Jacoberger

  • Saint Malo intra muros with its ramparts, the sillon beach (one of the most beautiful beaches in France, the petit Bé and grand Bé with charming atmosphere and its crêperies...

  • Explore the streets of Dinan and its medieval city.
  • Le Sentier hiking trail (6 km) along the banks of the Rance and the hidden cove of La Passagère, 1100 m from the house. Access to this hike is via one of the manor's gates.

  • Saint Suliac, 5 minutes from the manor, voted one of France's most beautiful villages.
