The Experience
A 19th-century family manoir with bright red shutters sitting on its own with gardens children will adore. There’s a warm vibe of faded grandeur throughout, and all is delightfully unfussy and laid-back; find high ceilings, original features, some antique furniture, some more modern but not cutting edge. Bedrooms – one heavy on the florals, the others simple – mostly face south for the views and feel light and airy, each has an en suite ‘creatively’ conjured up in the 70s so some of these are small, yet quaint. There’s a lounge, a big dining room, an outdoor dining area on the terrace, steps leading down to the garden (swings, slide, trampoline, lawn and lots of lovely mature trees for shade) and a hot tub on the deck. You’ll find a box of organic veg from the farm in the kitchen, and the little snug leads off here so you can stir stuff while the others watch TV. Carantec’s wide sandy beaches are a short hop for picnics, sea bathing and water sports; the coastal path is near; there are books and board games for rainy days. Great fun for relaxed holiday makers and their free ranging kids.

Beautiful and spacious house. Excellent location for a holiday taking in coastal walks, water sports and sandy beaches, Neolithic sites and pretty towns.

We stayed here as an extended family of 9 - five adults and four young children. The house was spacious, comfortable and well furnished. We appreciated having two living rooms and en suite toilets. The garden was excellent for the children to play in with swings, a trampoline and a climbing frame. The hot tub was a hit with both the children and adults. The house was a few minutes walk from a supermarket and within walking distance of town and beaches and had lovely views. We had smooth communication with the family who own the house. We would highly recommend staying here.

This was our first stay at the Manoir Keranna and will not be our last. It's set in a fantastic location, on the edge of town and countryside. We had a very mixed bag of ages, teens, young adults and older adults. The house is rustic french with lots of original features, it is big enough for each bedroom to be private and give everyone their own space. The garden is huge with a lovely play area for children and a beautiful positioned hot tub, perfect for watching the sunset. We spent most evenings enjoying our meal on the grand terrace. A fantastic house, location and welcome by Joelle!

This is such a magical property- the house has a wonderful, authentically French feel with lots of space to accommodate a large group. We were two families with four young children under 7. We loved exploring the local beaches and then returning to the hot tub. The terrace is particularly lovely: you catch the evening light and the children Loved exploring the garden with its mini adventure playground. The house has everything you need- a full kitchen with plenty of plates, pans and serving dishes. Judith was a really kind and helpful host. Ps supermarket is 3 minute drive away- so useful!

We have just had a wonderful family week at the Manoir 6 adults and four children aged 18months to 10 years. The house is spacious comfortable and we were really able to relax. Lots of outside space the hot tub a great success on non beach days. We went to three different beaches, walked on the coast path kayaked explored Morlaix and walked along the causeway, as well as eating well and just enjoying the Manoir leisurely lunches on the terrace . For a family break it was perfect thank you

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Judith Bohic
- The area has several bustling weekly markets: Carantec’s ,on a Thursday morning, sells local produce, including organic meat and vegetables all year round.
- Explore Carantec’s sandy beaches and rocky coves : there’s one for every activity, be it just making sandcastles (try the aptly named Grève Blanche), swimming and sunbathing, or practising watersports.
- Take advantage of low tide, too, to cross the causeway to Callot island, where you can relax on the sandy beaches, visit the exquisite little church on the hill, before discovering the ruins of an ancient fort at the northern tip.
- Hikers can follow the coast path all the way round the Carantec peninsula, at one point along the golf course, stopping for the stunning views- across to the Barnenez tumulus, to St Pol and Roscoff, and more especially to nearby Chateau du Taureau.
- Take your pick of historic towns within easy reach: wander round the old cathedral town of St Pol de Léon, once the seat of the Bishops of Leon, with some impressive buildings hidden down the back lanes.
- And after a busy day out, relax in the outdoor hot tub watching the sun go down over the Bay of Penzé. Actually, a dip in the hot tub is even more enjoyable on a crisp winter’s day

We went as 3 families, my husband and me with our two teenage boys, my sister in law and her family (kids aged 9 and 5) and my father in law and his partner. The house and garden were comfortably able to accommodate us, and all our different needs! The kids loved the hot tub and the views from the top of the house. Football with Joelle’s son was a hilarious game of franglais enjoyed by everyone. Organic artichokes from the Bohic’s farm were delicious (I was glad of the recipe!) The house itself is cool and welcoming. The wooden floors throughout give it a feeling of history. We loved it.
