Le cuisinier en Combraille

We stayed two nights at this beautiful place - very quiet and peaceful. The food cooked by Jacob was excellent and he went out of his way to cater for my dietary requirements and allergies. They were both very welcoming.

A really first class place, beautiful and comfortable room opening onto a pretty garden and delicious food (breakfast is terrific but do book for dinner in the evening, Jakob is a wonderful chef and you’re made to feel so welcome and also very spoiled). Highly recommended.

A charming and characterful farmhouse located in an out-of-the-way and utterly peaceful spot, surrounded by rolling countryside. Cees and Jakob are such courteous hosts and their personal touches much appreciated. We very much enjoyed two delicious dinners cooked by Jakob, with advice on wines from Cees. And the breakfasts were very fresh and generous, as was the picnic which we took to sustain us on the long dash for the ferry. Highly recommended.

Situated in one of the most beautiful and peaceful areas of the Auvergne this Chambre d’hôte is a charming old farmhouse; full of character and thoughtfully renovated. I have to say it was one of the major highlights of our holiday. What a find! The owners, Jakob and Cees could not have made us more welcome and the meals, cooked by the very talented Jakob were truly amazing. This was our first visit to Le Cuisinier en Combraille and it will most certainly not be our last. In fact, our second visit is already booked!! Thank you Cees and Jakob.

Cees and Jakob's home in the rolling countryside of Combraille is a very special place indeed. They are charming and relaxed hosts, who immediately put their guests at ease. Our room was spacious and full of character, with a very comfortable bed and delightful private terrace, surrounded by flowers and birdsong. The highlight of our stay was the superb four course dinner prepared for us by Jakob. The food was imaginative and perfectly judged down to the last detail. A delicious breakfast was also served on the terrace. The cost was amazingly good value. We will definitely return!

We were the first lucky guests of the new 2022 season and had a wonderful 2 nights stay. Jakob and Cees were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was beautifully decorated and so comfortable. We had our own little private terrace with a table and chairs overlooking their beautiful garden and the surrounding countryside. It was so peaceful and tranquil. We also had 2 amazing 4 course meals, together with an mise en bouche all cooked by Jakob, with our own personalised menus printed by Cees. The experience was so special- a true gem and one we would highly recommend.

What an amazing find! Beautifully restored farmhouse and stables in quiet countryside - so quiet you can hear nothing of modern life, only wildlife and your own heartbeat. Jacco and Cees were wonderful and welcoming hosts and produced a superb meal, perfect for the hot temperatures we were experiencing. The garden is beautiful with many hidden areas to explore and a lovely pergola to sit under and enjoy the peace and maybe a pre-dinner drink. The bedrooms in the old stables had remained a perfect temperature without the need for air conditioning and many little comforts were provided.

A lovely little Eden. Lots to see nearby, but once you get here you'll just want to curl up with your favourite book in the garden before tucking in to a delicious dinner...

What a lovely place to stay. The accommodation was superb, very good quality. I love the area, very rural and picturesque. From the moment we arrived, we realised this was a wonderful find. When it came to the evening meal we were blown away. The level of cuisine was Michelin grade. Our hosts could not have been more helpful. You will not regret staying here. Thank you both for the wonderful food and being the highlight of our France visit.

A fabulous stay in renovated farmhouse. Jakob and Cees are perfect hosts. Beautiful surroundings and gardens. The farmhouse has been renovated to the highest standards obviously a labour of love for the owners. Would definitely stay again and would recommend others. We ate in the restaurant - the food was amazing all produce was fresh from the gardens which is a lovely touch.

Staying here was a moment of pleasure and unparalleled healing. The bedroom, the living areas, the garden, everything is excellent quality.
