The Experience
Start the day with breakfast – a feast of local produce. End it with a last lazy lap in the pool, watching the sun set behind the Pyrenees.
Rachel and Xavier have taken over the running of this exceptional B&B, started by Rachel’s parents in 2004. They could not be warmer or more gracious, and open their arms to all ages. As for the 18th-century manor, flanked by a winery, it is charming both outside and in, full of light and elegant proportions.
Explore the mountains and the foothills – by electric bike if you prefer! Or venture into Pau, 6km. Once the wintering spot of expats, it’s a grand little city poised between the mountains and the sea. For smaller shops and a weekly market, the wine-making town of Jurançon is a hop in the car.

My husband and I spent 4 days at Clos Mirabel in the comfortable and delightful studio loft. Thanks to the beauty of the whole structure, the wonderful landscape, the good food and excellent breakfasts, the comfort and cleanliness of the structure and not least to the kindness and helpfulness of the owners, we really had a wonderful holiday, it was a pity to leave ! We really hope to return to the Clos Mirabel in the future and we highly recommend it !

What an amazing place! The view alone is worth staying here but the hosts and the accomodation are very special. Could not believe what we had come to and wished we were staying longer. We made the most of our one night, sitting by the pool watching the sun go down with the view of the Pyrenees, followed by a wonderful dinner in the beautiful dining room. The whole house is elegant and beautifully decorated but somehow feels like home - thanks to the warmth of the owners, Anne & Andre and their daughter and son-in -law.

We spent one blissfully comfortable and entertaining evening here on our way to Carcassonne. Such a welcome, delicious dinner with plentiful wine and great company. This is a very special, elegant but cosy retreat, set in wooded hills and offering breathtaking views to the mountains. We will definitely be going back for longer next time as there’s much to see and do in the area. Lovely family, exceptional place to stay.

Three fantastic nights spent at Clos Mirabel as part of a larger tour.. We arrived tired after an early start from eastern France. Not really feeling the desire to go out and explore that evening. We asked Ann if she would be able to offer dinner that night. She was more than happy to do so. We had a wonderful evening as we were joined by a French guest travelling alone for work, and by Ann. These are the experiences you miss with more mass market hotels. Our room was lovely, over looking the pool and mountains in the distance. A beautiful place and we'll definitely return.

Our three nights at Clos Mirabel were blissful. The location is stunning: mountainscapes all around and peace which sinks deep into your bones. the house is both beautiful but hugely welcoming. Ann and Andre could not have done more to look after us: trays of tea, restaurant booking, loans of woolly hats for a trip to 9,000 feet, travel advice. Best of all they have a genuine passion for what they do; their hospitality is faultless. We could not believe the feasts offered for breakfast: fruit, yoghurt, local cheeses and hams, artisan breads, more kinds of honey than you knew existed. Go now!

We spent 2 days at Clos Mirabel en route to the Mediterranean coast. We were welcomed by Ann who is the perfect host. We were offered tea on the terrace overlooking the mountains. When the cloud clears what a view! Ann was also a helpful tour guide and gave us information on restaurants. She even booked them for us - both suggestions were excellent. Clos Mirabel is close to Pau and the mountains so there is plenty to do but it was lovely to return and sit in the garden or by the pool and gaze at the spectacular scenery! Our room was comfortable and breakfast was plentiful. A great find!

We spent several glorious days at Clos Mirabel , Jurancon France, in October 2012. We were greeted with an incredible view of mountains and vineyards, which was matched inside by a large warm beautifully furnished home. Our room was large, airy, immaculate, and very pretty. How could it get any better? It did, as Andre and Anne, our hosts, we're very warm, hospitable, and informative. They helped us plan our excursions and recommended great local restaurants. We were also able to have them provide a picnic and wine in the yard, overlooking the awesome mountain range. We hope to

Other reviewers have extolled and described the virtues of Clos Mirabel with its incomparable views over the Pyrenees. One should perhaps add that having André with his French-Canadian diplomatic background and Ann with her perfect grasp and love of things French means that you feel you really are in France, yet at home, from wherever you come. A gem.

Introducing
Rachel Péloquin & Xavier Micol
Rachel's parents André and Ann fell in love with Clos Mirabel in 2004 and now she and her husband Xavier continue the family tradition of warmly welcoming guests to their elegant property. They speak good English, are connoisseurs of local wines and vineyards, and with young children of their own they can recommend restaurants and outings in their much-loved region for all ages.
This beautiful place enjoys wondrous panoramic views of the Pyrenees. The bedrooms are superbly comfortable and there are many attractive places to sit and relax or chat to a member of the charming family who own it. Heavenly!
