The Experience

Wake to birdsong, enjoy vistas of rolling hillsides with white orchard blossom in spring and sunflowers later – welcome to the Lot-et-Garonne. The living area is spacious with plenty of seating round the dining table, on sumptuous sofas or at the kitchen bar where you can chat and help whoever is cooking. You’ll also find English and French telly, DVDs, books, games and bluetooth speakers.

The lounge opens out onto the poolside terraces with a covered area for al fresco meals in the shade and a peaceful reading corner. Cool off in the pool or wander the pretty gardens to help yourselves to fruit in season or visit the potager for herbs and tomatoes for your supper. The pool has wide decking for sunbathing or an evening drink under a parasol and you’ll also find an ice machine, barbecue and pizza oven.

The owners can arrange a private chef, yoga, pilates or massage and there are horses you can say hello to or learn to ride.

Reviews

We were a large family group, 3 generations, and think we have found the perfect family gite! There is plenty of space for the entire family to spread out, a large kitchen/living area, every bedroom is ensuite, and best by far is the lovely terrace and pool area. Having a heated pool and large patio space was ideal for all generations. Our granddaughters spent hours in the beautiful pool and loved feeding the horses and trying boules and croquet. The pizza oven was a great success, we had a splendid pizza evening! Nicky & Graham are very attentive hosts and deal immediately with any request.

Joan, Sherborne

A perfect, peaceful, luxurious, well-thought-out holiday spot, with the added attraction being beauty round every corner in the Lot-et-Garonne.

Location

The neighbourhood

Montignac is 3km where you'll find a pub called the Lord Raglan selling its own beers and with live music evenings and food trucks. Monbahus is 5km for a decent three-course lunch, the bakery and a little supermarket. Miramont-de-Guyenne, 15km, has a fabulous market on Mondays; the lake at Lougratte, 18km, offers swimming and water slides. Bergerac is 37km for riverside restaurants and shopping.

Local points of interest from Nicola Parker

  • France is a gastronomic delight! Tasting and enjoying everything that the Lot Valley and surrounding region has to offer is available at Maison du Cluzeau. Wine tastings are always great fun with Luci and she will pair the wines with local produce.
  • How about a visit to a Truffle farm where Coco the dog sniffs out these amazing delicacies. The owners have partnered with local artisans to provide different products using the truffles for you to taste.
  • Kayaking on the Dordogne is approx. 45 minutes away. Port Ste Foy is in a beautiful setting on the banks of the Dordogne. They drop you off and you paddle down river. Suitable for novices and is very pleasant and relaxing. Don't forget your picnic!
  • Visit the beautiful medieval bastide towns of Eymet, Monpazier, Montflanquin, Montpezat, Villeréal to name a few. Built between 1200-1400 around a central square now filled with restaurants and boutique shops and full of history.
  • We are half an hour from the fabulous Bergerac wine region. Enjoy a day out wine tasting and touring the vineyards. For a family day out visit a chateau such as Biron, Monbazillac, Duras and Bridoire which are a short drive away.
  • Guests have arrived with plans to explore the area and ended up staying at the gite all week. The pool is heated and the outdoor space is private and secluded set in 50 acres. The choise is yours!

Introducing

Nicky and Graham left Norfolk for this very tranquil spot and a complete change of lifestyle. Graham was a builder and has brought out the best in this lovely old farm; Nicky is a grand organiser and has a wealth of knowledge to share. They love meeting different people and can organise all sorts of things to make the best of your time – just ask.
