The Experience

At the end of a long lane winding through sunflower fields and woods of truffle oak, this cluster of honey-hued buildings around a gravelled courtyard is a charming place to land.

Quintessentially French, the houses are furnished with antiques and artwork gathered by the owners on their travels. Rustic stone walls, terracotta tiles and exposed wooden beams give a sense of history. The vast kitchen will satisfy the most demanding of chefs and the large table is perfect for convivial gatherings. You can have daily cleaning, a chef on request, a welcome dinner, food delivery or a breakfast basket at an extra charge – just ask.

Walk through woodland and wildflower meadows, catch a glimpse of wild boar, roe deer, or pipstrelle bats dipping through the twilight. Borrow a bike, swim in the pool, take a siesta in the shade of a tree or read quietly in the cool of the house.

  • The Domaine du Trouiller is ideally located to discover the best of Périgord which is well known for its natural beauty, some of the most beautiful medieval villages in France, its concentration of unique cave art, its 1001 castles, gardens and gastronomy.
  • We offer deliveries of bread and pastries before 9 am at an additional cost. We are in contact with caterers and restaurants for home deliveries. We regularly test restaurants in the region and will share our favorites.

Introducing

Jean-Emmanuel De Witt

Boundlessly enthusiastic, owners Jean-Emmanuel and his Slavic wife Olga de Witt took on the task of renovating the old lodge, in the centre of the estate once owned by Princess Napoleon. They have created a haven for nature lovers and a bolthole where guests can disconnect from their busy lives. They live on site at the opposite end of the main house so are on hand should you need them.
