The Experience

There are two spacious gîtes to choose from. The Magnolia has a roomy sitting room, dining and kitchen area downstairs and an upstairs bedroom and bathroom. The Chapel sits in its own corner of the huge garden and is very private. Bigger groups can take both together, add B&B rooms and use Magnolia as a group space.

Both spaces have use of the gardens and you’ll find lots of inviting places to sit and take it all in. Float in the sparkling swimming pool or retreat to the shade in the poolside summer room – a tranquil spot for chatting or reading.

Interiors are elegant and charming with beautiful furniture sourced from antique markets by owner Frédérique who has a good eye. You can visit her on-site shop and choose something to take home with you.

Reviews

Thank you Frederique and Mark for the warm welcome to your beautiful home. Frederique gave us excellent breakfasts with lots of homemade jams and cakes. Also her knowledge of local restaurants was excellent! A lovely peaceful place to relax and enjoy this beautiful part of France, with so many excellent places to visit.

Ann and Oaul, Kidderminster

The buildings, clustered amiably around gravelled and gardened spaces, held the seduction of the Dordogne in every soft and mellow stone. Fred and Mark combine immense hospitality with discretion and easy-going humour. The interiors are a fine balance of elegance and simplicity. There is nothing lacking; everything available. It is, simply, all very beautiful.

Our stay at Fredérique and Mark’s property exceeded our high expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. Every nook and cranny has been beautifully and sympathetically restored, transforming the ancient house and barns into individual, exquisitely designed and furnished rooms and cottages plus a stand alone self-catering gite. Each detail has been thoughtfully considered, including a charming communal kitchen and a sumptuous breakfast that all adds to the experience. After only two days, we left feeling like kindred spirits, having found new friends. We will be back.

So happy we found Domaine de Pragelier! A beautiful place to spend a week in a glorious part of France. The property has been lovingly restored by owners, Frederique & Mark, the rooms are even better than the website pictures! We stayed in 'The Cottage', felt instantly relaxed and at peace, a genuinely tranquil setting. Frederique has amazing attention to detail, thinking of everything for a perfect stay. We're very grateful for the tips on places to visit, where to eat and where to shop, really made the trip! HUGE thanks to Frederique & Mark for their hospitality (particularly the shopping!)

Kerry and Simon, Liss, Hampshire

This is such an oasis of calm. Mark & Frederique were so welcoming and helpful, providing a lovely meal with wine on our arrival and furnished us with lots of local information to help us make the most of our stay. Fredérique has such great style - she has turned this old house with barns into exquisitely designed and furnished rooms and self catering gites. A delightful communal kitchen with fridge and utensils enabled us to go buy cheese and other French delights. After three days we left feeling we had made new friends with our hosts and look forward to a re-visit.

Mark, Belfast

What a find! Frederique and Mark are two of the nicest hosts we've met on our many travels. They have created not just a beautiful home (where we enjoyed delicious breakfasts) but lovely, comfortable well-appointed accommodation for guests. We stayed for four nights but could easily have stayed for longer. After exploring the area during the day, we had a great time socialising with them and the other guests in the evening. (This was not obligatory as each 'cottage' has it's own private area - but was great fun!) We'll definitely be back and can't wait to share this wonderful place with family.

Ray and Caroline, Haddenham, Bucks

We were fortunate enough to find this beautiful haven of tranquillity and wish we could have stayed longer. Mark and Frederique are wonderful hosts. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail are everywhere. Frederique has painstakingly restored every building with love and imagination which echoes their own home, into which you are invited for breakfast. Which is a delight in itself. Home made pastries, jams, honey. You will find a sprig of lavender secreted in your napkin. Nothing much but oh so charming. They are well travelled and happy to share their time with you. We will return.

Linda, Clitheroe

This is a special place to stay, a splendid location and Frederick's creative talents were very effectively displayed in the design and furnishing of the accomodation. Breakfast was a treat with great attention to detail. All in all a place of inspiration.

Ann & David, Culles les Roches

I had the luxury of visiting this beautiful piece of paradise of Domaine de Pragelier situated in the countryside. The property has been refurbished to a very high standard. Frédérique has thought of every little detail to make your stay special. I can highly recommend this guesthouse for a romantic week away or just to escape your busy lifestyle to switch off and relax.
