The Experience
Your apartment has a large sitting room (18th-century), plenty of comfy seating and a flat screen TV for those days when you’re not out enjoying the garden. You have your own sunny rear terrace with a barbecue, table and chairs for long summer suppers, a private garden with deck chairs and you’re free to wander the castle park with its mature holm oaks, vegetable and herb gardens.
You’ll find all you need in the well kitted out galley kitchen, all the basics for cooking and beautiful Bernardaud Limoges china. A tour of the castle is offered to you on one or two days of the week; learn all about its fascinating history from the owners. There are plenty of walks from the door in this quiet hamlet with a church and a few houses.
Visit many other châteaux, drive to Sarlat (12km) for medieval buildings and markets, return to a sumptuous bedroom with mullioned windows overlooking the park.

Staying at a chateau that has its roots in the 15th century is a very special treat, but hearing that the chateau was restored over a span fifty years by the current owner's parents adds a personal feeling to the experience. Tours given by the owners, generally daily, describe the renovation project. This alone makes a visit worthwhile, but it's also nestled in a beautiful and peaceful countryside. The gite is tastefully decorated, the kitchen clean and complete, and the bath is modern with a view over the landscape. The gardens on the hillside were full of flowers when we were there in May.

Location
The neighbourhood
You are 1km from an organic bakery. Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet has some very bonny houses, a church and cemetery, a 15th-century presbytery and the original wash house. You'll also find good restaurants including Ferme D'Imbe and chez Mémé Louise. Salignac-Eyvigues is 4km away and has a good range of shops. Sarlat has an excellent market twice a week and is well worth exploring for a day.
Local points of interest from Isabelle Lebon-Henault
- Visit the medieval town of Sarlat, 12 km away, with its winding streets and mansions with thackstone roofs. Wander through the town early in the morning or in the evening, you will embark on remarkable time travelling journey.
- Stroll 20km through the Dordogne valley to the prestigious castles, actors of the 100 years war: Castelnaud, Beynac and Milandes to evoke the memory of Joséphine Backer. The small Céou valley and the village of Daglan are also both worth the visit.
- Discover the Vézère valley and go back to the origins of humanity by visiting the Lascaux cave. Our favourite: the village of Saint Léon sur Vézère for a picnic by the river.
- Taste the specialties of our gourmet Périgord, foie gras, walnuts, chestnuts and Bergerac wines. We will show you the small farmers' markets that will delight your taste buds and our excellent restaurants with their superb local specialties.
- Explore the Lot which is an hour away: Rocamadour et le gouffre de Padirac. We particularly like Autoire et Loubressac.

Introducing
Isabelle Lebon-Henault

Their parents bought the castle as an old gloomy ruin and spent the next 40 years lovingly restoring it, along with the park and gardens. They will happily give you a guided tour and tell you the history of the house.
Exceptional place, full of history, in an enchanting setting. Beautiful restoration of this small Perigord castle. Be sure to attend the guided tour of this captivating place.
