Atelier Hay

Thank you, Val, for a peaceful stay in your delightful Atelier. It was good to be here as Hay started opening up again. We have left a book of “Walks around Hay”, and recommend Walk 9 to get your bearings and (if you like long walks) walk 8 which is beautiful, and Walk 12 (but only if quite dry). For food and drink, Kilverts is welcoming and has great beer; we had a good meal at The Old Black Lion (which is very well run); Hay Deli has a fine range of local produce and Castle Greengrocers is excellent. All in all, this is a great place to stay!

A wonderful break spent in autumn sunshine, allowing us to walk and cycle - Dorstone circular walk to Arthur’s Stone was wonderful. The Atelier is beautifully done to every last detail, spent more time gazing than reading!

What a gorgeous space! The perfect place to feel calm, relaxed and get stuck in to the newly purchased books! We enjoyed buying delicious produce two doors down at the deli and cooking up a storm with everything you need in the kitchen. We don’t want to leave ... thank you!

What a lovely place to shelter from rain, floods and virus. We’ve had a great time. Highlights: A gong bath (what a way to arrive) ; living next to the best bookshop in Hay; the Thursday market proving that it really does happen whatever the weather ; the Salad Project for a delicious curry; the Blue Boar for excellent cider and more work by Dix. We’ll be back!

We’ve just had a great stay at the Atelier - one of the loveliest spaces to be in. So many meautiful art works to look at and beautifully curated. Val has created a sense of peace which allows you to relax straight away. Hay is a great place and it was brilliant to be right at the heart of it. We have had a lovely time and we will be back

We have just had a wonderful weekend at Atelier . It is truly a beautiful home , such tasteful interior design . The attention to detail made our stay perfect . A friendly and informative hostess and the location in the heart of the town was perfect for enjoying lovely Hay on Wye . Highly recommended

We’ve had a wonderful stay in your charming house, thank you! You may well see us or friends again .... The drive, or walk, in the Black Mountains between Pandy and Hay was amazing. We had a delicious meal in the Felin Fach Griffin and a Chinese take away from next door (order well in advance, it’s very popular!) What a lovely place to visit.

We hope to come back during the festival one year, and will recommend Atelier Hay to anyone else who is coming to stay in this area.

As a first visit to Hay-on-Wye we couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. On entering Atelier we were met with creativity, light and a feeling that here we would be able to relax. And we were right. Superb attention to detail with an eclectic assortment of furnishings. Location within the town was flawless with galleries, deli, cafes, bookshops, antique shops and cinema (it goes on!) on your doorstep ...the town is peaceful which is surprising with so much on offer. We were somewhat smitten ~ an enchanting place to stay.

What a find! A very elegant apartment filled with beautiful art, the morning sun shines through large Georgian windows, lovely views of historic Hay and its winding streets, a relaxing light bright and open space. Comfy and cosy, a large, p discretely placed, TV for Netflix TV, top notch cooking facilities, lovely China. Perfectly located above an art gallery, Richard Booths bookshop (restaurant and cinema), close to the Delicatessen (for great almond croissants) so one can amble out and back at leisure (with the Sunday papers). The River Wye for walking and fishing. Just bliss!
