The Experience

A converted mill a short drive from the fishing village of Solva. Pootle through woods and across an old stone bridge to a courtyard surrounded by cottages – peaceful and pretty and by the river. Walk straight in to a big sunny kitchen with creamy stone walls, beams painted pale blue, bright spotted cushions, a huge table and an Aga-style range humming with warmth; eat by candlelight here, and spill into the garden in summer. There are two sitting rooms, one with the ancient mill workings intact (perfect for teenagers with its striped rugs and big TV); the other is more grown up and has three squashy sofas and an open fire. Bedrooms are mostly a good size, cream walled, wooden floored, with splashes of colour here and there. Mattresses are thick, pocket-sprung and covered in cloudy goose down; there’s a shower downstairs and baths up, in rather snazzy bathrooms. Walls are dotted with bold contemporary art; if you take a fancy to it, you can buy it. The delights of the coast and St David’s await, but you could stay put and chill if you prefer not to go far.

Reviews

As regular visitors to Pembrokeshire we were delighted to discover the Corn Mill. It is without doubt the best place we have stayed. We found the property to be spacious, well equipped and furnished to a very high standard. The original mill workings are a great feature. However I think the highlight for us was the garden. It was just lovely to relax there; especially after returning from wind-swept coastal hikes to find it nicely sheltered and several degrees warmer. Always a bonus on a British holiday! We look forward to staying again this year.

We have been fortunate to stay in The Corn Mill on 2 occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and exploring the local area. The cottage is comfortable, stylish and well appointed in a delightful quiet location with great access to the coast. It is only a short drive to St Davids, Porthgain and Whitesands Bay which are all stunning for days out. We enjoyed lighting the fire in the evening, the excellent kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. Highly recommended.
