The Experience

Set back from a quiet country lane, this traditional stone cottage invites you to unwind in the green, green landscape of North Wales with nothing but the gentle bleating of nearby sheep to disturb your zen. Inside, the house has been thoughtfully modernised but retains plenty of charm. A welcome hamper of wine, coffee and tea along with locally made bara brith, jams and crackers awaits you.

Hunker down for a game of cards in the snug sitting room (a wood-burner keeps things cosy) or sink into the bath with views across the Eglwysbach valley to Snowdonia’s Carneddau mountains beyond. Little kids will love the cosy cabin bed, while upstairs there’s spacious ensuite bedroom for the grown-ups.

Although the garden is simple, there’s a barbecue to cook on and a terraced area with outdoor seating. There are private walks through farmland and woodland – and beaches, mountains, fishing, birdwatching, golf, history and more to enjoy.

Reviews

I loved this little cottage. It's cute, comfortable and cosy but with more than ample space, beautifully refurbished respecting its character and charm. It has a real homely feel to it. The location is great for so many activities like walking, beaches, history whilst enjoying being in a place with such peace and tranquillity.

The neighbourhood

There's a local shop for basics (two miles), and welcoming village pub The Bee Inn is five miles. Wander Bodnant's famous gardens (five miles); try the Hayloft for locally sourced, seasonal menus. Explore Conwy Castle (15 mins) or relax on the beach at Llandudno or Colwyn Bay (15-35 mins). Head to Zip World (15 mins) or hike in Snowdonia National Park (30 mins). Anglesey and Portmeirion are an hour away.

Local points of interest from The Bodnant Estate

  • Castell Conwy & Conwy Town. The magnificent medieval castle has stood for over 700 years, and the walled Conwy Town is nestled close to the mouth of the Aberconwy River. Castell Conway is an incredible Medieval Fortresses, and a UNESCO world heritage site.
  • Eryri’s ( Snowdonia National Park) offers uninterrupted landscapes that encompass a wealth of natural treasures. From remote hidden pools to magnificent high peaks. The landscapes of the national park are saturated in animal and plant life.
  • An easy walk for the centre of Llandudno, the Llandudno Pier & Promenade, the Great Orme Tramline begins its journey to the summit of the Great Orme from Victoria Station. The Great Orme Tramway is Britain’s only funicular, or cable-hauled, tramway that travels on public roads.
  • Bodnant Garden is considered one of the most beautiful gardens in the UK, spanning 80 acres. There are 5 terraces to explore within the gardens. Sumptuously planted, there is something to see all year - roses, rhododendrons, waterfalls, and the famous Laburnum Arch.
  • The Welsh Mountain zoo is set in 37 acres of gardens above the town of Colwyn Bay and perfect for families. The zoological gardens offer breathtaking scenery, and panoramic view across the bay as you wander around the pathways admiring and learning about the animals in the zoo’s collection.
  • Trefriw Woollen Mills is a family run business that still manufactures traditional Welsh "tapestry and tweeds. These are all produced using machines which are over 50 years old and powered by a vintage water turbine.
