The Experience

The single-track road up to the farm is so pretty your heart will lift. Those who just ‘want to be together’ will be happy but there is a futon for a child and another can be conjured up, so families can enjoy it all too. The living, eating, bedroom space is light, airy and generous and there are comfy spots from which to soak up the stupendous views to the west, or garden vistas in the other direction.

A well-designed galley kitchen has basics for cooking and a bottle of Prosecco welcomes you, the bed hums with Hungarian goose down, the separate bathroom has underfloor heating and a loo with a view but outdoors will still beckon. Sitting on the patio, surrounded by much greenery, or in the hot tub at sunset will be a delight. There are 27 acres to explore with waterfalls, a natural plunge pool for paddling and sheep to say hello to.

Dream, walk, swim, cycle, picnic on superb beaches, or simply head to the Bee Inn for good food.

We had a really fabulous stay at Ty Farm retreat. Ben could not be more welcoming or helpful. When you reach the terrace the spectacular view opens up in front of you. It is a truly magical spot, quiet except for the birdsong and very private despite being attached to the owner’s farmhouse. Inside is beautiful with all you could need including a glorious, huge bed. Activities and places to visit abound if you can drag yourself away from the view. Drinking fizz in the wood fired hot tub on the terrace watching the sun set behind the mountains as the birds sing is a wonderful way to end the day.

The setting of the cottage and its view are magnificent. With their attention to finish and detail Ben and Kristina have added an inspiring layer of luxury to promote rest and relaxation during your stay. You can spend your day exploring locally or further afield then return home to relax in the wood fired hot tub and tuck into some delicious treats from the local artisan suppliers nearby.

The neighbourhood

It's a short walk to the pub and a five-minute drive from Bodnant Welsh Food for an excellent shop, tea room, bar and restaurant – even tasty cooked breakfasts. Bodnant Garden (NT) is one of the finest rose gardens in Wales. It's a 20-minute drive to the National Park, 40 mins from wild swimming lakes, 20-45 mins to superb beaches and some magnificent castles to explore at Conwy and Anglesey.

Local points of interest from Ben Adey-Davies

Pen yr Helgi Du is a fine summit to the southeast of Carnedd Llewelyn. It stands high above wild Cwm Eigiau and the beautiful Ffynnon Llugwy reservoir. Its summit is linked to Carnedd Llewelyn via the narrow ridge at Bwlch Eryi Farchog.
Foel-fras is probably most notable as the final (or first) summit of the Welsh 3000s – the challenge of conquering all 15 of the region's peaks above 3,000 feet (914 m). The quiet summit gives extensive views out towards the coast and the Conwy Estuary.
At 610m Tal y Fan is the northern most outlier of the Carneddau mountains. The trig point on top gives wonderful views into Snowdonia National Park or north and out to sea.
Towering above Conwy, Conwy Castle defended the town from sieges and battles, sheltering various monarchs during wars. The castle was built between 1283 and 1289 by Edward I after his conquest of Wales. The castle is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Conwy's town walls are a medieval defensive structure around the town of Conwy in Wales. The walls were constructed between 1283 and 1287 after the foundation of Conwy by Edward I.
A gorgeous village fondly called the "Gateway to Snowdonia". Often found teeming with hikers, mountain bikers and cyclists, it's a haven for lovers of the great outdoors.
