Old Mission House

If you adore wild, rugged landscapes, wide open spaces with sea eagles soaring above you, long white beaches all to yourselves, cycling along quiet roads, getting your supplies in then hunkering down in much comfort you will be very very happy here. Clubbers and night-life seekers should avoid.

We had a truly wonderful week staying in this exceptional house. Beautifully & thoughtfully designed, it lacks for nothing. 4 bedrooms 3 bathrooms, loved the crisp white linens & tartan blankets. Tastefully decorated, everything very useable, many cooking essentials, CDs & games to play. Clearly well loved by the family who own it. There’s a telescope, table tennis, boogie boards & a delightful mini mission house. Try a Harris Gin by the wood burning stove watching the sunset after exploring. A stunning coastline with gorgeous views, every turn offers another beautiful bay. Hebridean Heaven.

We have just come back from this wonderful holiday home feeling refreshed, peaceful and with clear minds. Some of our family are from the Island so this was a nostalgic visit to see the land, wildlife and also amazing scenery. The house is beautiful with panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding land. We saw stags, eagles, ships on the water and lots and lots of sheep! The house has been designed extremely well and you will want for nothing. It is full of comfort and is so welcoming. There is an exceptional beach a ten minute walk up the road which has golden sands, and perfect for a swim.

We chose this house for the location and were not disappointed by the views or the wildlife. The house is cosy, filled with the owner's possessions (books, cd's, food, clothes and an enviable whisky collection!), so we felt like pampered house guests! There are no curtains or blinds in the bedrooms or bathrooms (no obscured glass) so bring a sleep mask & beware of inquisitive cyclists on Sunday mornings!

My wife and I had a fantastic stay on the Isle of Lewis, we had a week staying in this wonderful house. The house had all the facilities you would need, it has enough room for 2 families of 4 but does not feel too big if there is only a couple in the house. The location is stunning and so peaceful, we had a herd of highland cattle grazing near by, had red deer virtually come to garden. then to cap it all we had a golden eagle fly past the front window and had 2 sea eagles flying in mountains at the back of the house. the location is so peaceful and remote. It is a distance but worth it
