The Experience

This chunky cabin, built with local Douglas fir, was awarded Best Green Holiday Home in Europe in 2021 so their eco credentials are solid – an air source heat pump with underfloor heating and superb insulation keep you cosy. Once here the feel is very rural and the views of the hills will keep nature lovers and wildlife spotters very happy. Fling open doors from the open-plan living room for sunny days on the terrace with a barbecue, hot tub and fire pit for later on when dark skies will entertain you.

The kitchen is well-equipped, you’re left a tea tray with Scottish shortbread and an endless supply of logs for the wood-burner and also for the hot tub – which takes about three hours to heat up. Open a bottle of wine and relax then laze in the tub watching the views. Walks from the door are gorgeous and you can wander down to the Tweed.

Two bedrooms, one up on the mezzanine, have comfy robes and share a shower room with local soaps and lotions.

Reviews

On the edge of pretty Melrose, these cabins offer a rare mix of being both within walking distance of a town with all its delicious offerings and things to do, whilst simultaneously being situated in the peaceful countryside, at the foot of the Eildons.
