The Experience

Near to Melrose Abbey and the glorious St Cuthbert’s Walk, this solid 1890s house is immersed in bucolic bliss. Views soar to the Eildon Hills through wide windows with squashy seats; all is luxurious, elegant, fire-lit and serene with an eclectic mix of art. Bedrooms are warm with deeply coloured walls, pale tartan blankets and soft velvet and linen; bathrooms are modern and pristine. Breakfast is served with smiles at a flower-laden table and overlooking those purple hills. A short walk through the blooming garden and over a footbridge takes you to the interesting town of Melrose, with shops, restaurants and its own theatre.

Reviews

Sheila and Ian run one of the best B&Bs we’ve ever stayed in and, as mature travelers, we’ve stayed in many, in both the U.K. and Europe. The accommodations are comfortable, the breakfast is outstanding, and the setting is beyond compare. If you are visiting the Borders region, I urge you to look no further and stay here...you’ll love it!

Tom, Los Angeles

Lovely rooms kept in immaculate condition by the hosts; quiet and pastoral setting but excellent restaurants in easy walking distance. The breakfast conjured up by Sheila would make any hotel kitchen proud. But best of all is Sheila's and Ian's warm, heartfelt welcome and hospitality. Oh, and don't miss out on the amazing art around the house!

Lars, Basel

superb, your writeup was spot on, owners welcoming to a high degree, afternoon on the delightful terrace looking down the beautiful grounds to a vista of Melrose surrounded by beautiful wooded hills. Our bedroom was beyond our dreams, breakfast an absolute delight, surrounded by other very happy guests. Oh yes please we do want to go back. Big mistake though Alistair Sawday - the printed postcode was incorrect - we spent half an hour finding the house having been routed to the wrong place. We forgive you because Fauhope was so special, but I think the owners were a little miffed!!

Pamela, Devizes UK

An oasis of tranquil and scent of flowers. My 9 year old daughter and I spent the weekend and hardly felt the need to leave the house. It is located at a particularly beautiful stretch of the Tweed river. The room was pure luxury, just as the breakfast. That combined with the very hospitable owners made it a unique experience.

Erik, Sint Pancras

We stayed with the lovely Sheila and enjoyed her gracious home and hospitality due to our fellow travellers who had stayed twice before. Our cousins, Robyn and John booked our stay and we can only say how glorious was our accommodation and how delightful our hosts. Thank you, we dream of returning one day. Xxx

Fauhope House is a dream of a place to stay; it has charm and character both inside and out. Extremely warm and comfortable in every respect. Sheila & Ian are very welcoming with nothing too much trouble..

Sylvia

This is the perfect place to stay. They could not do more for you... The place is picturesque and I wish I could return sooner rather than later.

Susie

Sumptuous surroundings with every comfort provided. A warm welcome and superb hospitality. Many thanks.
