The Experience
The entirely benevolent expansion of the Mhor empire has mastered the Midas touch, turning this old roadside inn into the coolest motel in the land. Outside, the glen shoots down to Loch Voil, with mountains to climb and bike tracks to follow. Inside, chic white minimalism mixes with warm Scottish tradition, a perfect blend of relaxed 21st-century living. There’s style and humour in equal measure – boarded floors, tractor seat bar stools, curios hanging on the walls, the odd sofa for afternoon tea. Fires roar, cake stands bulge, happy staff weave through the throng delivering fabulous food that you eat at old school tables – porridge with honey for breakfast, sourdough and hummus for lunch, Scotch rarebit, Tyree lobster and plum crumble for dinner. There’s live folk music every Thursday – Ewan MacPherson of Shooglenifty often plays – and a fine selection of malts if you fancy a dram. Simple bedrooms have white walls, contemporary art, small armchairs and honest prices; spotless bathrooms are 1980s originals, all part of the fun. There’s a games room, too, with a juke box and pool table.

We stayed here our first night in Scotland after flying into Edinburgh from the U.S. I had hoped for a quiet restful place, and Mhor 84 completely fit the bill. I booked a room in the older section of the motel, and the room was lovely, spacious and quiet. The bathroom was also large with a good shower and stocked with high-quality toiletries. We were able to check in early, which was a huge help for us. We ate all of our meals there (lunch, dinner and breakfast the following morning), and the food was excellent. Staff was courteous and professional. A great stay, and we hope to return.

Really great experience here, we had drinks in the sun on a lovely terrace, the room was very cool and fun. All the soaps and shampoos etc were wonderful and the evening meal was lovely. We would definitely recommend. Great service too!

Location
PIcked this place as a stopover on the way to the Oban ferry, but it turned out to be a highlight of the whole trip. Amazing food, friendly staff and so much stuff for our 1.8yr old to walk around and point at. We'll go back just to be here again.
