Eastside Cartshed

Our stay at the Cartshed was amazing and exceeded expectations...It felt so peaceful and safe with stunning views. Loved the unique touches such as the mezzanine with a star gazing spot, the log burner and secret cupboard full of books (plus Netflix for a cosy film night!) The place was super clean, super toasty and had a luxurious feel to the overall Nordic design! Jenny was such a lovely host, ensuring we had everything we needed (including robes for the insane handmade sauna) ...We will definitely be back in future and we’d recommend this hidden gem to anyone.

We loved the clean yet characterful design of the Cartshed - surrounded by incredibly uplifting scenery, quietly cared for by fantastic hosts. It felt instantly and enduringly relaxing.

An amazing oasis and must stay! Amazing place of calm less than an hour drive from Edinburgh! We stayed in the East Side Wash House and Cartshed which somehow manages to feel simple and luxurious at the same time. After a wonderful but hectic journey through the rest of Scotland, this well thought out, beautifully appointed breath of fresh air was the perfect way to end our Scottish vacation. Beautiful little walks in the Heather covered hills and sweet bleating of sheep all around. Our hosts were so responsive, gracious and respectful of privacy. What a gem!

A traditional 18th century stone farm dwelling with cool, chic minimal Scandi interiors with bespoke furnishings. Jenny and Susan are hands on and very friendly owners and the attention to detail is top-notch - the working farmyard outbuildings are the most well-maintained we'd ever seen. There are spectacular unspoiled mountain views from every direction with their appearance ever changing as the weather drifts - which is often in Scotland!
