The Experience
You’ll feel special perched up here in this stunning eco building which hugs the hillside of a gorge: traditional dry-stone skilfully blends with huge expanses of glass all topped with a turf roof. You’re overlooking a natural forest of birch, ash and alder so the feel is intensely private, yet it’s a short stroll to Ullapool with shops, restaurants and galleries. Whatever the weather the views are dramatic, from the waterfall (a trickle or a torrent depending on the weather) to sea, mountains and harbour, you’ll be glued to all that glass. Warm too, with underfloor heating and a log-burner belting out the heat in the open plan sitting room where you’ll find simple Scandinavian-style furniture and original paintings by a local artist. Cooks will be happy with the view-filled kitchen and kind owners can deliver fresh (and live) seafood from the local boats. A wooden staircase leads to restful bedrooms with terraces, an egg-shaped freestanding bath and drenching showers. Activities abound round here, on land and sea – but it might be hard to tear yourselves away.

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Gavin & Rachel Anderson
- Ullapool is a picturesque but vibrant coastal community with a number of good restaurants and shops. The village is renowned as a cultural centre with live music events and festivals throughout the year
- Ullapool is a perfect centre for exploring one of the wildest areas of Scotland - Wester Ross, Assynt Coigach and to the very North West tip of Scotland.
- Within easy striking distance are almost deserted sandy beaches, majestic mountains, single track rounds that take your breath away around almost every corner, hidden communities with a surprising number of artist studios, craft shops and quirky eateries.
- Possibilities for active days out abound including Hill walking, mountain climbing, sea kayaking, angling, wildlife cruises can be organised with local guides or independently.
- More sedentary days can be spent by beaches, lochs and waterfalls or in the local cafes and restaurants.
- Stimulating days can be spent seeking out ancient castles and sites, visiting the UNESCO recognised North West Geopark or RSPB bird sanctuaries and nesting grounds, or the more recent historic sites of the Second World War Arctic Convoys.

Introducing
Gavin & Rachel Anderson
Rachel and Gavin have lived and worked overseas but were always looking to return to Scotland. The idea of building something truly unique was important to them and with the help of local architects and builders this has become a reality. They live on-site at the bottom of the hill and always try to meet you and settle you in.
