The Experience
A family-run hotel with good food and nicely priced rooms. There’s a small spa in the garden with treatment room, sauna and a hot tub with super views. The house dates to 1700 and comes with Japanese oak panelling in the hall, a wood-burner in the sitting room and an open fire in the dining room, where doors open onto the terrace for dinner in summer.
Breakfasts are legendary (homemade granola, fresh fruit, the full works) and Adam cooks rustic dinners with a new menu everyday: Galloway venison and fresh sea bass, shrimps and crab from Carsluith, Loch Arthur cheese; a small, organic kitchen garden provides for the table in summer. Bedrooms – some big, some smaller – have warm colours, crisp linen, good beds and spotless bathrooms. All are dog-friendly, those at the front have the view, the suite opens onto a private garden.
Wander down to the river Nith, walk to the covenanters’ graveyard, visit Loch Arthur farm shop.

Booked for two nights as a treat for a relaxing get away. What a gem we found! Fantastic scenery, tranquil gardens, interesting walks, cosy comfy bedrooms, roomy bathrooms with lovely luxury toiletries, delicious food, all with attentive but not intrusive service. Everything had been thought of to make you feel safe in the current ‘challenging circumstances’ with sanitizers throughout (even a free luxury one in the room). It certainly exceeded expectations.

Trigony House Hotel was the perfect Scottish retreat when my partner and I went to stay in November. The setting was beautiful, relaxed and peaceful and we loved the cosy and friendly environment that the owners have created. The food was delicious and all homemade from the bread to the jam (we had breakfast and dinner here) and the beds were wonderfully comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring Scotland but equally we loved spending time relaxing in front of the roaring fire and in the garden spa. We’ll definitely be back!

Lovely old house, comfortable bedrooms. Great food. Dogs are made welcome and you can eat breakfast and dinner in the bar with them leaving the restaurant for those who prefer to eat dog-free. Good compromise. Will definitely return as much to see and do in that area.

We were a party of 8 for the long weekend and Trigony House staff looked after all us very well. Lovely hotel that has retained its hunting lodge character but has quite modern rooms. Our evening meals and breakfasts were all very good. Nice setting with the grounds - look out for red squirrels. Nice also to see somewhere that allows guests to have their dogs. We look forward to returning.

We had a great weekend for a family get-together with folks coming from as far as Bedford in the south and Perthshire in the north. A very nice hotel with superb food & very comfortable rooms. Lots of information about things to do and places to visit , walking guides and maps to borrow and they are extremely dog-friendly. Everyone agreed we had made a great choice. Our thanks to Adam & Jan and all their lovely staff.

Introducing
Adam & Wendy
Adam inherited the hotel from his mother who was a very good cook, so it obviously runs in the family. He and his business partner Wendy have a very devoted staff who are all charming and this small hotel has a very friendly and helpful atmosphere. You will also meet Dora the Manager.
The relaxed atmosphere and very helpful staff give Trigony House a lovely family feel. It is also a perfect place to explore this very beautiful area. There are very many activities on offer from e.g. dog training, to falconry, to just simply enjoying the spa. The walks nearby are all marked in the Trigony guide and there are many interesting, historical places to visit. It's a thumbs up!
