The Experience
The feel is spacious indoors with west-facing dining and sitting rooms leading off a big square hall. Bay windows overlook open countryside, there are squishy sofas and chairs, a merry wood-burner, lots of games and puzzles and a plethora of books about local flora, fauna, birds and history. Another room doubles as a study/sitting room and has a sofa bed for two. From the hallway you can spill out to a raised area with deckchairs in summer – a grand spot for al fresco meals.
Two bedrooms upstairs are very comfortable, with views up the valley, feather duvets and pillows, chintzy curtains and antiques. Ease aching limbs in a bath scented with South West Soaps and relish the view. There are fenced gardens from either door and a lawn for sprawling or games. Wander down to the river for endless watery views and sunny picnics.
Chocolate and wine will be waiting in the galley kitchen which has all a cook might need.

This was our first visit to Scotland and we were so lucky to find your peaceful cottage, there were beautiful views of the countryside from every window, the cottage was clean with everything you needed, we couldn’t believe what a beautiful cottage it is, you have definitely undersold and understated this in your listing. Although a beautiful rural position you are only 5 miles from the coast and the shops. Our dog Barnie enjoyed the enclosed gardens, this was such a peaceful relaxing holiday including some sunshine, we would love to return.

The cottage was so lovely and homely. We stayed the end of April/ May and had the best time. There was everything you need for a relaxing stay at this cottage. We saw plenty of wildlife and enjoyed walking down to use the hut near the river. Would stay here again.

Location
The neighbourhood
You can fish in the river with a permit and have lessons with the ghillie. There is excellent walking and cycling in the Galloway Forest, much wildlife and three visitor centres. It's also a Dark Sky Park for awesome stargazing. The nearest village is Barr, 10 minutes in the car, for a little shop. Girvan, a fishing town, is 20 minutes for a butcher, veg shop, seafood van and new bistro.
Local points of interest from Laura & Jack Warrender
- Pinclanty Cottage sits at the heart of a working sheep farm. Take a picnic to the banks of the River Stinchar, wander out on to the hills or explore acres of woodland. Nearby Pinclanty Forest has many walking trails and small hill lochs.
- Not far away is the Galloway Park with its internationally recognised Dark Sky status. Sit out in the evening wrapped in a blanket and watch the stars. They are dazzling.
- The Carrick coast has a number of large sandy beaches, take the dog for a long walk, or watch the sunset over Ailsa Craig.
- For golfers, there are the championship courses at Turnberry and Prestwick and local courses at Girvan and Stranraer.
- Bring your binoculars for there is an abundance of wildlife here between the woods, wetlands and hills. Listen out for cuckoos, owls and oyster catchers. You might spot otters, salmon or newts; and see hares, deer and red squirrels.
- Farther afield, there are castles, gardens, art galleries, adventure playgrounds and walking trails to be found.

Introducing
Laura & Jack Warrender
Laura and Jack live on the family-run estate with their three young children and Jack's brother Geordie. Jack is a documentary filmmaker and a keen fisherman. Laura used to work in television too but now works part time as an archivist alongside running the farm. Today Minuntion is home to a large sheep farm, extensive woodland, sporting business, three holiday cottages and a forest school.
We had such a great time at this beautiful cottage. Laura was extremely helpful and provided clear instructions well in advance. The house was immaculately clean with amazing surroundings, had everything we possibly needed with a lot of extra touches. Would highly recommend!
