The Experience
Jane is an absolute whizz and loves to help you create the perfect holiday. You’ll arrive to a brimming welcome hamper including home-baked bread, Scottish porridge oats, local Aberdeenshire fudge and homemade jam, but if you fancy an afternoon tea, pizza dough and build kits, or local goodies for lunches and dinners, all can be arranged.
It’s a joy to hang out all together on the big deck: cook pizzas in the smart Delvita oven, then jump in the wood-fired hot tub. After the sun sets there’s heaps of space to cosy up in front of the crackling fire in the spacious living room and play a couple of board games. Bagsy the generous double en suite downstairs or head upstairs to three more rooms with a colourful, cosy cottage feel, all sharing a shower room.
The farm’s scenic views fan out all around you and sandwiched between the coast and the Cairngorms there’s much to do, from whisky tours to Orca spotting, castles to gannet colonies.

Highly recommend the farmhouse! We absolutely loved it as a family of 4. The private reading area upstairs was so magical for the kids. Hot tub was great it was fast heating, get a good fire going and you’ll be in it in no time. I can’t wait to try out many other options with boutique farm bothies, they’re just brilliant and Jane is amazing as what she’s created.

Denend farmhouse is a treat. We had a fabulous weeks stay. Warm and cosy inside with amazing weather watching outside. Lovely hot tub. Fabulous pizza oven which we also used to cook the best dirty steak. A great place to stay to explore Aberdeenshire , 2 days skiing at Lecht, stunning beaches, castles, aquariums and mustn’t forget the sheep in the field behind. So much to do I never thought February in Scotland would be such a hit with the family. The house is perfectly equipped in the kitchen and games in the sitting room. Comfy beds. Hopefully it won’t be 5 years until are next visit

Location
The neighbourhood
The nearest town Huntly (seven miles) has a supermarket and an independent butchers, Forbes Raeburn. For local produce, try Thorneybank Farm Shop (eight miles) or Downies Fish Shop Whitehills (20 miles). Glendronach and Glenfiddich distilleries are both close by for a whisky tour, head to the coast for dolphin spotting or a surf lesson at Sandend Surf School, don your boots for hikes in the Cairngorms.
Local points of interest from Jane Foad
- On our farm we grow malting barley for Glenlivet whisky and we have a breeding flock of sheep. During lambing season from the middle of April to the middle of May each year guests can visit the lambing shed to meet the new born lambs.
- Discover the stunning Aberdeenshire and Moray coastline within half an hour drive – Cullen, Sandend and Findhorn are our particular favourites! Also Sunnyside Beach in their top two favourite UK beaches with sand like sugar and lovely rock pools.
- Culykhan Beach is also a particular favourite of ours which looks out and over to the stunning village of Pennan on the cliff side!
- Surfing and Paddle Boarding at Sandend Suds Surf School is fabulous!
- Explore the Whisky Trail – Glendronach, Glenlivet and Glenfiddich well worth a visit and on our doorstep!
- Lostloch Spirits – tours, tasting and creating at their Spirits School!

Introducing
Jane Foad
Originally from the South West, Jane and James moved here in 2012 to grow barley and breed sheep before diversifying into holiday lets. Jane has put a lot of love and fun into the design and renovation of the farmhouse, sourcing beautiful antiques and vintage treasures, making her own wallpaper and taking upcycling to another level. She has plenty of tips for making the most of the area.
What a perfectly unique, incredibly funky and lavishly stylish farmhouse. The antiques and handmade furnishings adorning every room makes you want to go home and redesign your whole house immediately (with Jane as your interior designer!) We watched the sunset over the fields, tucked into the delicious hamper and woke up early to listen to the bird song on the terrace.
