The Experience

This lovely old building oozes history and couldn’t be in a better spot close to the Botanic Gardens, the Lyric Theatre and many other cultural delights. Everything is a walk or bus ride away and you’ll mainly be out exploring the city – fabulous Melanie is a mine of information and can help you plan trips and book tickets.

The breakfast room, with wide bay windows, antiques and plush curtains, doubles as a living room. It’s all very relaxed in the morning; order the night before for delivery to your room or nip down, help yourself and take a tray back to bed. It’s a continental spread of muesli, fresh fruits, meats and cheeses, pastries, pancakes, good coffee. In the evening sip a cocktail at the bar before strolling out to dinner.

Bedrooms are a bohemian delight, filled with art, high ceilings, lovely windows, bathrobes, the story behind its name. Expect gleaming en suite shower rooms, a few freestanding tubs and style galore.

Reviews

What a lovely stay. Room clean as a whistle, lots of hot water, delicious breakfasts and truly friendly and helpful staff. A home from home rather than an impersonal hotel.

Kim, Bristol

Curious about Belfast? Then come and have a fascinating history lesson from your own bedroom in this colourful, stylish small hotel. And beetle out to the University, Botanic Gardens, museums, galleries, Michelin-starred restaurants, buses into town or to the river. It's a grand spot for a city break and you're very well looked after.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're bang in the centre of Queen's Quarter, by the University and the Botanic Gardens. Close by are museums, theatres, galleries, Ulster Hall for music gigs, and four Michelin-starred restaurants, and outside the door is a bus stop to take you into town for the Grand Opera House and much more. There's plenty of free parking behind the hotel – gold dust in central Belfast.

Introducing

Melanie Harrison

Melanie grew up in Armagh, and lived in France, New Zealand, the USA and Luxembourg before coming back to Belfast. She adores old properties, art and auctions, and people – she's a self-confessed professional talker! She bought the house in 2018, slowly renovating the listed building and making a place she'd want to stay in herself, full of history, interest and intrigue.
