The Experience
There’s jazz in October in Marsden, a food festival at Holmfirth in July, and heavenly walks all year round. Hey Farm Barn, attached to the owner’s fine family farmhouse, is at the top of a Pennine track, looking south over rolling moorland… the setting is a glory. Friendly practical Rebecca, with a background in interior design, is passionate about her new venture – step inside to be wowed. Here is a beautiful, generous, light-filled space, with a big barn window by the dining table and a window seat overlooking the valley. There’s a barbecue patio for summer, a stylish wood-burner for winter (logs on the house) and colours fresh, cool and light. The galley kitchen is superb, and the bedroom is on the gallery, a warm delicious haven, with curtains of simple ticking, beams painted palest aqua and floorboards washed in white. The bathroom, white and bright, is a flit downstairs. A two-day breakfast hamper is provided (so are chocolates in a little dish) and the pub is a 15-minute scamper down the hill. Brilliant for walkers, lovers and dreamers; there’s even a sofabed for kids.

Another lovely week in this gorgeous cottage! Thank you! This beautifully-appointed and well-designed is cosy, yet also spacious, and wonderfully light-filled. Very well placed to explore the stunning Colne and Calder Valleys, as well as further afield (such as Wakefield with the marvellous Hepworth museum and Yorkshire Sculpture Park; and the new RHS Garden at Salford). The cottage has everything you could possible want in a home away from home, and the welcome pack is the best ever! This was our second visit this year, and we can't wait to return next year.

A wonderful base for exploring Pennines and Peaks. The cottage is unobtrusively and airily stylish, with great insulation (we had a wet week) and a stonking wood burner that we didn't need. Rebecca thoughtfully provided a welcome pack of eggs, bread, croissant and more, so no foraging was required for breakfast. Walks out the door, views across the valley and Leeds 30 minutes away by train. Perfect!

This is a beautifully designed cottage with plenty of room for 2 people. We spent a very comfortable and enjoyable week here. There's good walking straight from the front door and the centre of Marsden is a pleasant walk away. The view from the garden (where we had breakfast and afternoon tea, though in May it was too chilly to eat dinner out there!) is good. It's a good place from which to visit Halifax (with the Piece Hall) and Saltaire.

We had the most wonderful holiday in this beautiful cottage. The cottage is exceptionally well designed, furnished and equipped. The views are simply stunning and the local walks breathtaking. We enjoyed breakfast and pre-supper drinks on the terrace. We loved the walk from the cottage down into Marsden and had great fun exploring the local area. We can't wait to return! Thank you so much Rebecca for your warm welcome and for offering such a fantastic, romantic holiday bolthole!

What a lovely place! The cottage itself is delightful - really well designed, very cosy and well equipped with the added bonus of a good range of provisions. We particularly enjoyed having the croissant and jam for breakfast on our first morning! The location is superb - wonderful walking, (from gentle strolls to more challenging long treks) right from the doorstep, in glorious moorland. Nothing better than a long walk then returning to enjoy a coffee in the lovely garden. It was also really nice to meet Rebecca and her family. Highly recommended!

Our stay at Hay Farm Barn was a wonderful experience. First, the barn has been beautifully designed and decorated to a very high standard. The place is tucked away at the end of a lane that is part of the charm of the place. We were welcomed with eggs, juice, milk, cookies and fruit. Rebecca is the perfect host, responsive to our questions but leaving us to enjoy the facilities in privacy. We forgot a few items when we left and she went out of her way to ensure that they were mailed to us at home. Top notch place, service and location.

We stayed at Hey Farm Barn from 13th to 16th March 2018. It is a delightful conversion and had everything we needed, and more, for a wonderful stay. The bed and bedding were cosy and comfortable and we loved sitting on the window seat looking out at the view. The thoughtful extras left for our arrival were much appreciated. We didn’t use our car at all and walked to Marsden for our outings. One day we took the train to Huddersfield and another we walked along the towpath to Slaithwaite and back through fields and across the moor. It’s a fabulous place to stay and we’d highly recommend it.

We can highly recommend Hey Farm Barn. What treats were in store as we entered the beautifully prepared spotless barn, home made jam, marmalade, artisan loaf ,croissants ,local eggs, butter, milk, tea and coffee. Rebecca was a perfect hostess and on hand if we needed anything and although the barn was attached to the family home we felt we were on our own. Beautiful scenery and walks from the door. Marsden and Slaithwaite within walking distance and are up and coming foodie places. There are lots of local attractions and a boat trip into the Stannage tunnel was a highlight for us

This was the perfect cottage for our first family holiday with our 5 month old son. Rebecca (the owner) was friendly and gave us a warm welcome. The cottage is nicely decorated with a light airy feel. It is also well equipped and immaculate. There are great walks for all standards and lovely little villages near by with good shops and cafes. We would highly recommend this cottage for a couple or family with a young child.

We spent a very relaxing long weekend in Rebecca's beautiful property. It's extremely well set up for guests, very comfortably furnished and with a really well equipped kitchen. The welcome pack with breakfast provisions was much appreciated. The property is ideally located for walks from the door, and day trips further afield. It was a real bonus to be able to walk via a short and scenic route to town through fields and by the canal. A real idyll in a glorious location.
