The Experience

A beautifully renovated L-shaped wood-clad barn close to Tunbridge Wells and Winnie-the-Pooh’s home – Ashdown Forest. It is part of a small farm complex perched on a hill above Eridge with owner Helen living in the farmhouse next door and a listed oast house to gaze at from your flagged terrace.

High-spec insulation, underfloor heating and a heat source pump keep you toasty and the well-designed kitchen has a handy central island for cooks to get stuck in. The combined kitchen/diner/living space is the hub of the house with a vaulted ceiling and you’re just steps from the sunny terrace for barbecues. Later you can snuggle together in front of the smart TV, choose a good read from the stuffed bookcase or play board games. There’s fast WiFi for those who want to skulk off to their own room – three homely country-chic bedrooms are off the corridor.

Strike out on the footpath just metres from the door; visit Glyndebourne and Scotney Castle.

Introducing

Helen Raikes

Helen bought the farm back in 1986, letting it to a tenanted farmer until 2008 when she moved here, initially living in the oast house before moving permanently into the farmhouse. Her careful, eco-friendly renovation of the barn opened to guests in 2024.
