Walk into a small corridor with hanging space and a shower room, then up the stairs to your hideaway bedroom and kitchen. The feel is quite roomy and the design is good, uncluttered yet very comfortable. A sofa waits near the huge window-with-the-view for reading or simply sitting, gazing at nature and three pet sheep. The kitchen is small but packs a punch – both smart and functional and you’ll find some basics to keep you going.

The bed faces the view and is very well dressed with White Company linen and Devon Duvets wool bedding – a good spot for enjoying a morning cuppa and deciding on your next walk. Sit on the east side of the barn and you have a lovely view of the church with its 3,000-year-old yew tree; round the corner is a spacious terrace with seating, barbecue and fire pit.

Just behind the barn are the remains of an important medieval manor house with a history worth finding out about.
