The Experience
A cosy and immaculate space with an open fireplace, TV, games, books and plenty of information about the local area. Mostly you’ll be either sitting in the garden (south-west facing), big enough for games of cricket, or heading out for long walks. The village is a 5-10 minute walk and here you’ll find shops, cafés, restaurants, a good butcher and deli and some great pubs.
The galley-style kitchen has all the gear you need and a proper coffee machine; basics for cooking are left in the cupboards. Pack up a picnic, head for the coast and one of the last surviving stretches of natural coastline in Britain. You’ll see many birds, maritime plants at their most colourful in summer and you can sail, windsurf and go deep sea fishing.
Harbour Wall Walk leads you past salt marshlands, crabbing pools and onto the dunes of East Head, owned by the National Trust. All that sea air will send you nodding off peacefully in very comfortable bedrooms.

We had a wonderful holiday at 3 Coastguard Cottages. The cottage is idyllic and is equipped with everything you might need. The location is perfect for easy access to the beautiful beach and there are shops and restaurants within walking distance. The cottage has been beautifully renovated and has a pretty little garden with a sun-soaked patio area. We didn't want to leave!

We had a wonderful time at No.3 Coastguard Cottage. The cottage has been decorated beautifully and every detail has been thought about. From the fully equipped kitchen to the picnic blankets, candles, and even kids books and games (for the adults too!). A real sanctuary to come back to after a fresh stroll on the beach or surrounding walks. Great place for a family or two couples. Highly recommend!

What an incredible cottage and stay, a truly luxurious home away from home. The cottage is beautifully furnished and well equipped throughout with lots of extra touches & the most comfortable beds ever! The location is fantastic for exploring the local area and a short stroll to the stunning West Wittering beach for hours of fun in the sand and sea! We really didn’t want to leave and will most definitely be back. Thank you.

We have just stayed at Coastguard Cottage for the Easter break and we are in love! The setting is idyllic and perfect for all ages (our children are 16,15,10 and 5). The cottage itself is beautiful and the space has been so well thought out and has everything that you could possibly want and more. The interior design is stunning and the quality of the furnishings is to such a high standard. The beds are amazingly comfortable. We had the best few days and didn’t want to leave! We will definitely be back and are missing it already-the perfect hideaway from a busy city life.

The perfect getaway place for a family or group of friends which feels private and remote yet is close to the beautiful beach and wetlands and only a 5-10 minute walk to the attractive Sussex town of West Wittering. The fascinating town of Chichester is only a 10-minute drive and there are many other places of interest a little further away. I love the cottage - the owner has thought of everything you could need for comfort and relaxation and it is very pleasing to the eye.

Location
The neighbourhood
West Wittering is at the mouth of the harbour and the Romans most likely formed some kind of coastal defence here. The Landing café has good coffee, cakes and ice creams, Tessiers Butchers makes great sausages and other barbecue stuff, The Old House at Home is a jolly pub and restaurant and there's a convenience store selling just about everything. Chichester for cathedral and theatre is 20 mins.
Local points of interest from Pilar Lafuente
- The house is a two-story Grade II listed terrace dating from 1834. The terrace in front of the house is a South-West facing sun trap and is furnished with a parasol, wooden table & chairs. There are some beach toys in the shed for your use.
- East Head Sand Dunes: The cottage is on the last road before West Wittering Beach. West Wittering beach and the East Head sand dunes are managed by the National Trust. East Head is a 10 minute walk from the cottage along the newly rebuilt Harbour Wall Walk
- Local Activities include all kinds of watersports, riding (Cakeham Stables), sailing, golf, birdwatching, wild swimming, rambling, crabbing.
- Places to visit include: Fishbourne Roman Palace, Goodwood, Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, Chichester Cathedral & the Weald & Down Outdoor Museum.
- The Landing café has the best coffee, lovely sandwiches and cakes and is a five minute walk from the cottage. Their summer hours are M-F: 8-6pm and Sat & Sun: 9-6
- Tessiers Butchers, a great & friendly butcher. As well as all the meats, including home-made sausages and a BBQ range, look @ their deli foods-butter, jam, biscuits. Old House at Home is a popular pub & restaurant so book if you want a table 01243 511234
