The Experience

With a lease dating back to 1771, this is an attractive and atmospheric place to discover good home cooking, real ale and a happy buzz. Produce is local and seasonal and you’ll find classic pub dishes and some more contemporary choices too, with a brunch menu, sandwich menu and a breakfast to set you up for anything with veggie and vegan options.

In spring and summer the teak-furnished terrace by the water makes a languorous spot for supping a pint of local ale, shot of gin or bracing cocktail. In winter you can seek out a cosy corner in one of several rambling rooms, where wood and brick floors and open fires blend with modern tables and trendy armchairs. Immaculate new bedrooms are warm, contemporary and stylish with fresh flowers, Roberts radios and magazines.

Just seconds from the A3 south of Guildford, yet a world away from the hubbub, this is a grand spot for weary travellers who like good food and a relaxed atmosphere.
