The Experience

Seductively near RSPB Minsmere, medieval castles and the glorious Heritage coast. The evening sun pours into the back of this contemporary cottage with butter yellow walls; you are on the edge of the village so all is quiet with an orchard behind and a bird-filled garden for tea and cake. No sitting room, but easy chairs in your pretty bedroom face views. Caroline is a good cook and breakfast is delicious (try her kedgeree and homemade jams). Snape Maltings for music, Southwold for the famous pier, Aldeburgh with its shingle beach, boats, fun shops and good places to eat – all are close by. Holly the labrador adds to the charm.

Reviews

We had a lovely time staying with Caroline. The room and facilities were great. The location was perfect for exploring the Aldeburgh and Southwold areas. Breakfast overlooking the lovely garden set us up for the day.

Robin, Lichfield

A true delight. A very warm welcome from Caroline and her lovely Labrador Holly. Everything was sparklingly clean and fresh and above all really comfortable. A delicious breakfast set me up each day and nothing was too much trouble. This is definitely a -place to unwind with several excellent pubs and eating houses close by and a good place from which to visit many places.

John, Stogursey

Our stay with Caroline and Holly, (an intelligent Labrador), was a most enjoyable experience throughout. From the friendly and homely welcoming, with tea and lemon cake, the knowledgeable recommendations of places to visit to the fabulous breakfasts with such a range of healthy offerings including her homemade jams and marmalade. A special thank you for the damsons. We would certainly recommend the place for anyone looking to stay in the area.

Caroline is a lovely host who made us very welcome. The room is very clean and comfortable, with a homely feel. It overlooks the lovely garden, and is very quiet. Breakfast is delicious with homemade strawberry jam. The location is fantastic of course, near Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, Minsmere and Sutton Hoo. We also like the fact that there is just the one bedroom, so we were the only guests.

Fiona, Oxford

A lovely place to stay, with Caroline a charming and welcoming host. An ideal location for exploring East Anglia. Also loved the fact that there was a good pub within walking distance for dinner. And special thanks for the pot of homemade strawberry jam!

We had a very lovely stay at Willow Tree Cottage with Caroline and Holly the dog. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. Wonderful welcome when we arrived with tea and cake too. Caroline is an excellent host. We would well recommend anyone staying here.

A very warm welcome from Caroline. The accommodation is set in peaceful surroundings with all the comforts of home. The location is perfect for visiting the Suffolk coast and inland Towns and villages. We really enjoyed our stay.

Leslie, Orpington

A very warm welcome from Caroline. The accommodation is very peaceful and well situated for exploring the countryside and coastline. Room, amenities and breakfast were all excellent.

We stayed at Willow Tree Cottage from 4-7 April. Caroline Youngson and the lovely Holly the Dog were very welcoming with tea and homemade cake. The cottage and bedroom were clean and nicely decorated, the shower was strong and everything you could have wanted had been thought of and provided by Caroline. The breakfast was delicious (again with homemade jams and marmalade.) Holly had been trained not to be in the breakfast room and so was not a nuisance. We had dinner twice in the very good village pub and enjoyed our visit. We are used to a large bed, but the bed is a normal double.

Peter and Kathy, Ascot

We were very pleased to be able to book Willow Tree Cottage for the Easter weekend and enjoyed an extremely comfortable and deliciously well-fed stay with fantastic breakfasts, including home-made jams. Both bedroom and breakfast table windows overlook the lovely garden, right at the edge of the village - very peaceful and we enjoyed the birdsong. Caroline is a very thoughtful, welcoming host and we enjoyed meeting her and her lovely dog Holly. Her cottage is ideally close to many of the Suffolk coast's best places and we really appreciated her troubling to recommend a delightful walk.

We stayed at Willow Tree Cottage for three nights. Caroline...and Holly the Labrador... were so friendly. It is a lovely, cosy cottage and pretty garden, in a quiet location. The guest bedroom was beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The breakfasts were delicious. There is a pretty pub close by for an evening meal. Southwold is not far away and and Aldeburgh is close by, both with beautiful beaches and definitely worth a visit. We would without doubt stay again with Caroline if we are lucky enough to return to the area.

Liz, nottinghamshire

Caroline was a very thoughtful and welcoming host and her assistant Holly the dog was a joy. Really enjoyed our chats. The room was charming and comfortable and the area very peaceful.

Michaela, Ipswich

We had a wonderful 3 night stay here, remarkably comfortable room, with pleasant surroundings. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, the fruit pots are a real treat! The scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast was superb, and set us up for the day. Nothing is too much trouble for Caroline, she is a wonderful host, and Holly the Labrador is great fun to have around. Willow Tree Cottage is genuinely one of the very best B&Bs that we have stayed in, and we will book again as soon as we can!

Daniel, Derby

Willow Tree Cottage is set in a lovely, quiet, country location without being too remote from local facilities. Destinations such as Aldeburgh, Snape, Southwold and Dunwich are all within easy reach. The welcome from Caroline & Holly is wonderful and breakfasts are always varied and excellent. The accommodation is comfortable & cosy, with lovely views of the garden and the orchard.

Keith, Hadleigh, Suffolk

We had a delightful stay with Caroline and Holly. Willow Tree Cottage is very well placed for birdwatchers and opera lovers alike. Caroline’s breakfasts are healthy, delicious and with attention to detail. The room is very comfortable with all you could need. We had our cycles with us which Caroline kindly stored for us. We would thoroughly recommend Willow Tree Cottage and hope to visit again. Caroline and Holly.

We have just made our third visit to Willow Tree Cottage - so it goes without saying that we really, really enjoy our stays here. Caroline is the perfect host - friendly, generous, a pleasure to talk to and on top of all of this, she has a very loveable dog, Holly. We enjoy the peaceful atmosphere - a pretty garden filled with flowers and bird song and the room is spacious and comfortable. There's a great breakfast too - what's not to like! We will definitely visit again.
